Concerts when pregnant?

Is it ok to go to concerts when pregnant?

I have one when I'll be 24 weeks and another when I'll be 29 weeks.

They were both booked pre-covid and rearranged, and originally bought as presents so I do really want to go! However just want to make sure it won't affect baby in any way? I'm sure I'm overthinking it but just want to know others thoughts. Thank you!

It's fine, OP. Smile

Why on earth wouldn't it be?

gogohm · 17/02/2022 10:34

Why not, I went to nightclubs too Grin

Thank you @ThirdElephant and @gogohm! One of concerts is front row at the o2 so was just worried about the noise!

I personally would be a bit worried about the noise affecting baby's hearing but that might just be me being an over-worrier! Also I've been to a few events where the air was thick with cannabis smoke, which obviously you can't avoid breathing second hand. Depends on what sort of concert, I suppose!

I did Google safe noise levels in pregnancy with my first and remember reading that wearing ear defenders wouldn't protect the baby... Kinda worrying that it felt the need to say!

Please explain to me how a pregnant woman wearing ear defenders would protect an unborn baby from loud noises 🤣 That direct line from the ear into the placenta is it 😂😂

yorkshireteaspoonie · 17/02/2022 14:29

Not the noise element but I could not have physically stood for that long at that gestation.... though I am hoping to go to the Foo Fighters 8 weeks post birth in June 😂

strawberrysummer19 · 17/02/2022 14:39

For me I wouldn't - more for risk of being bumped into, being around drunk people ( went to a family wedding in Dec and only 7 wks and that was enough watching everyone sober in day turn drunk at night was hell for me !) standing, the noise factor, just nothing appealing for me. Call it wrapping in a bubble but I don't care! I feel very unsociable but for me I'll be more relaxed going when not pregnant x

I went to a rock concert on my due date it was fine, go and enjoy x

Danikm151 · 17/02/2022 15:28

You'll be fine. If the tickets are seated then go for it. If it's standing room only, then try and stay at the sidelines as a caution of being bumped

ABCeasyasdohrayme · 17/02/2022 15:32

I was at a Slipknot concert at 30 weeks pregnant, you'll be absolutely fine.

Kinda worrying because no one can surely be so dense as to think wearing ear defenders on their head would somehow stop noise in their abdomen?!

Danani · 17/02/2022 16:23

The subthread about the ear defenders is giving me LIFE 😂😂😂

NeverEnoughCake2 · 17/02/2022 16:29

Went to several concerts during pregnancy, the last one when I was at 35 weeks. Noisy rock bands may have been involved

One of the stewards got a bit nervous for the one I went to at 35 weeks and offered me a space in the disabled area! I said I'd prefer to stay with my friends as I felt fine (wasn't ticketed seating, so I was standing near the back).

In terms of long-term effects on the baby... well, he took up electric guitar aged 8!

Kendrickspenguin · 17/02/2022 17:38

I saw one of my favourite artists in concert when I was 7 months pregnant with DS1. It is probably totally unrelated, but from being able to sit up he would move in time to music. He has kept his love of music all of his life. It is still his favourite thing in the world. Go for it OP.

Lovemydoggie · 17/02/2022 17:44

I went to see Riverdance when I was 7 months pregnant and my son went loopy . I think it was the vibration from the dancing rather than the sound!
