Hi- me again, I had my 28 week growth scan today and I'm just in panic, baby is in the 81.0 percentile which I think is normal but her abdomen is in the 95th percentile which is not normal, I'm having the gestational diabetes test on Friday, but I'm just so anxious and to be honest would just love to hear from some other mums who are maybe able to put my mind at ease. I'm scared it's something I've done like over eat, I don't feel that I have really and I know everyone says it's not my fault but I'm just anxious. I'm scared I'll have to have a c section. Which I would obviously do if it meant baby was safer but just feel so nervous! Somebody help :(

My baby is measuring above the 90th percentile. I was a bit upset when i was told and thought I was over eating but the midwife assured me that was not the cause and they were just checking my body was producing enough insulin and that the baby was healthy.
I had the gestational diabetes test which came back normal. Then j was told it might be a slightly bigger baby but not to worry as babies can go through growth spurts so it might slow down by the time I get my next scan.
Overall I was told not to worry, just carry on as I have been doing.
I’m sure everything will be okay!

DD measured in the 90 something percentile and I did have GD which was discovered at around 28 weeks from Glucose tolerance test.

Nothing you can do about GD, you either get it or don't it's not something you cause to happen. Important thing to do is go for the tests and then follow the advise you are given regarding eating, testing and if needed medications.

If you do have it, you'll be advise to stick to a healthy and well rounded diet but with more of a focus on protein and fat. You do not eliminate carbs, you just switch to lower GI options so Rye/whole grain rather than white bread/pasta and not having loads of chocolate/ice cream/milkshakes.

I was induced at 37.5 weeks due to growth estimates, DD was 8lb 11oz, induction was via a pessary being inserted, after which I just waited around reading and napping for 24 hrs, then waters were broken the next day, DD was born less than 5 hrs later, I had gas n air during the pushing bit and had a small tear so needed a couple of stitches.

DD was 8lb11oz and perfectly healthy. She was born 6.30pm and they like to do 3 sugar tests on baby to make sure sugar levels aren't spiking so we stayed overnight and went home about 8am the next day.

You can't give yourself Gd x
FWIW I was completely chilled about my birth plan but I knew k didn't want a section.. I had a section and it was lovely! All those tears for nothing

Ah I had this when I was pregnant with my son!

His abdomen only measured on the 95th centile at the 20 week scan. I had the GD test which came back completely normal.

He was born at 41 weeks and he was a big baby (11lb and 2 feet long). Labour and birth was straight forward and the midwives were shocked at how big he was.

He's 6 now. The only problem I have is I have to buy him age 7-8 clothes and take them in at the waist! Which of course isn't a problem at all.

Try not to worry, I know this is easier said than done. If it is GD then you will find out and the appropriate treatment will be sorted.
