Hi
I posted on this a couple of days ago as we had a bfp (digital monitor) on Tuesday am - happy new year to me and dh! I've now retested twice and both have been negative('old fashioned type'), including the last one this morning (4am actually!) The initial bfp was done whilst having a poo too (sorry if tmi!!!!) - this can't possibly affect it can it?! This is a vastly unexpected pregnancy (following the snip!!!) but both dh and I are surprisingly fine about it - in fact I would go so far as to say we are delighted! What do I do now - is it just the wait and see route or do I do a 'first response' test today and see if that works - it should as the other was just an ordinary boots one. Ridiculous situation - Marie Stopes are ringing us today to see about retesting dh and then we'll have to decide what to do (again!!!) TIAxxx

PS I've namechanged just in case you're wondering!

How confusing - all you can do is wait another couple of days and retest.

Pooing wouldn't have effected the test result.

It is possible that you have had a very early pregnancy that may end in miscarriage.

Or that the first test was inaccurate in some way.

Good luck.

OK - read the thread - what on earth is a chemical pregnancy?

I am no expert - but thought this may help!

Forget that - just googled it. Harumph. I'm just going to have to wait I guess.

In brief:

A chemical pregnancy is a type of pregnancy loss that takes place when an egg has been fertilized, but implantation does not occur. Most women will not develop any pregnancy symptoms in these cases; however, women who have been pregnant before may recognize subtle signs of pregnancy.

I personally found that I only got proper positive readings from the digital tests when I first found out. I had other tests at home being a combination of cheap ones from e-bay and some from tesco but it was only the clear blue digital one that gave me the positive result at 5 weeks.

Hi finallypregnant (congrats by the way!) - thanks for this - I don't think it's great though as a first response didn't show today (gave in to the pressure). For a highly inconvenient bfp I'm mighty disappointed. It would have been number 4. I'll just have to wait for the af now....and have a little weep when it arrives.
