Hello

I am in a bit of shock. This is my first Time pregnant and I've never been more confused.

I last had a period approx 16 Dec I am a late ovulater according to my fertility app / long cycles I ovulated between 01-07 January.

However I booked a scan which was stupid of me as I'm not sure how far I am actually on. You know by the doctors calculations they take it from your last period date and count the weeks forward which I know is inaccurate.

Anyhow, got the scan they couldn't find an embryo just a genstation (16mm) and yolk Sac they recommend taking a test in 2 weeks - as they said it might be too early to tell.

Has anyone any experience with this I can't deal with the unknown

Oh my word @wonderwoman26 it's like I seen the same image atleast who you went to gave you pictures I walked away with absolutely nothing other than "take a pregnancy test in 2 weeks to see if you're still pregnant" honestly I can't get over it!!!!

I don’t know what to do to be honest *@sophiePotter*, feel like I can’t really think straight.

A massive huge good luck to you tonight, please let us know how you get on Flowers

@CupidStunt24 I am exactly the same I know your head isn't clear but atleast if you check with a Doctor they will hopefully be able to give a bit more guidance

Hi *@wonderwoman26* *@CupidStunt24* unfortunately it's not good news.

I'm glad I went to speak with a doctor as they took so much time to explain everything to us I can honestly say I will never go to a sonographer again as you don't get the same clarity or atleast with the one I attended I didn't.

So the crux of the situation is

Basically from the doctors experience and knowledge he thinks I’m about 8 - 9 weeks. He detected a fetal pole which measures at 6 weeks so believes it has probably stopped growing for the past two weeks. He can see I’ve started to bleed into the sac also. He said to confirm that this is an early miscarriage we do need to wait the 2 weeks for final scan but unfortunately he thinks that what it is! We are just trying to come to terms with it and process the test that we have been through and ask all the whys with no real answers but this is life and sometimes these things are here to test us 💔

Thank you both for chatting with me along the way. @wonderwoman26 I'm so happy you were graced with a little one in the end. @CupidStunt24 my advice to save any worry would be to to speak with a doctor for more clarity. I'm send you all the hope and love that all will work out for you ❤️❤️❤️

Op I’m so very sorry to hear this Flowers

I’m really glad you went to get an nhs scan now as if you had waited for the full time to the original Nhs date they will do the two weeks wait from that date. So you end up waiting 5 weeks from the original scan date for a declaration of mc - this is what happened to me.

If you are looking forward support on processing this current uncertainty and the likelihood of future bad news as well as what might happen next I really recommend the mc board on here where the support is amazing - it’s under body and soul. You can ring the Tommy’s charity helpline for emotional support - they have trained midwives and are amazing for this. Also the mc association has a phone line for RL support from someone who understands, either while you are waiting or if the mc is confirmed.

Wishing you all the very best - I know from experience how incredibly hard this journey is. I’m sure you will be posting your own rainbow story within the near future. The Gynae told me that only 1% of pg after mc end in a second mc Flowers

Op I meant to say you might find resources on “missed miscarriage” helpful to have a look at to understand what could be going on here - where there’s no bleeding or pain but the woman concerned has mc. I’m sure the dr told you all this

CupidStunt24 · 17/02/2022 09:57

Oh @sophiePotter, I’m sad to read this Sad I’m so sorry, was thinking of you all evening! (How weird to hear that from a stranger on the internet…).

I hope you’re as ok as you can be ❤️

I am so sorry OP.

CupidStunt24 · 03/03/2022 18:24

I hope you’re doing ok @sophiePotter
Just to update thread, I also had a missed miscarriage and an MVA on Monday. Turns out whatever it was seen at the first scan was definitely not an embryo with a heartbeat, as it ended up just being an empty sac, which had grown in proportion to my gestation (and was still growing), but no baby. Lesson learnt about private scans…

Onceuponatimethen · 03/03/2022 18:45

I’m so sorry @CupidStunt24 it’s a horrible experience. Sending you a big hug

CupidStunt24 · 03/03/2022 18:55

Thank you @MissHavershamReturns Flowers

Just want to get these next few weeks out of the way and start again.

Onceuponatimethen · 03/03/2022 19:23

It’s such a hard thing to go through I know from experience. In case it helps I got pregnant again within 6 months of mc and that baby is now ten and sitting near me as I write. There’s every chance it will be the same for you Flowers
