Cheapest nappies? Has anyone done the research

Bit cheeky but thought I would ask in case anyone has done all the research already.

Wondering where is best for cheap nappies, costco bulk buy vs supermarket deals etc

Thank you

You put the used ones in a sealed container, not the washing pile. 24 prefolds plus 4 wraps per size in small medium large and extra large did both my kids, at one point both were in them, I then sold for more than the purchase price (4 years after I bought them admittedly)

It’s no good trying to explain to people on here about cloth, some people just refuse to listen or be educated.
Lots of stereotypes and complaints of stinking and shitty nappies but no idea of how good modern ones are.

Which is such a shame as they are crucial to helping slow climate change and you’d think a site like mn would be keen to push eco friendly ideas and try to have a planet for our children and grandchildren

Aldi

I also have no idea where the whole reusable and stench association comes from anymore. They don’t smell in sealed wet bag, and you just open and put whole thing in machine without touching.

Personally I chose as the thought of 1 month of throw away nappies in my bin was stink worthy ( bin only collected that often)

Can you recommend a particular brand?
firstimemamma · 15/02/2022 19:14

Little lamb cloth nappies are the best.

Tibtab · 15/02/2022 19:18

I use Sainsburys or Tesco own brand as these are my closest supermarkets.

Yerroblemom1923 · 15/02/2022 19:26

We used cloth. Don't have a tumble dryer so just put out on the washing line. Find a brand you like, nappy bucket and washable wipes. My dd's nursery just bagged them up for us, and that was over 10 years and they're much more common now. We tried disposable ones initially but I hated filling the bin with all the plastic so switched to washable.

caringcarer · 16/02/2022 08:14

I used Terry nappies with my eldest but always tumbled them. Used disposable if going somewhere.

I think we used lidls up until size 2 the. Switched to Aldi. Both cheap and great. Aldi much better than lidls after size 2 though

Did you mean to sound so sanctimonious? I'm considering using cloth currently and the amount of different styles, makes out there is completely overwhelming. Boosters and liners and pails and fold ins closed pop ins. It's a minefield and intimidating to navigate, especially as a first time parent.

Maybe if you weren't so judgemental you would win more people over

@showmethegin - take a look at tots bots range. I use their all in one daytime, and two part at night. They have videos and guidance on their website.

I think yes there are lots to choose from, same whether washable or disposable. But there are many who completely ignore due to ‘ wee in the machine’. Which IS crazy.

Carbiesdreamhouse · 18/02/2022 06:09

I did reuseables with my first and a bit with my second but then lockdown hit, I was working full time, home schooling and caring for baby which nursery wouldn't take because they didn't want a new starter to burst their covid bubble.

I decided that I needed to factor in my time into the nappy equation. So when I costed it up with my labour in terms of washing, drying, sorting then the disposables won out and saved my sanity. Being a teacher, mum, friend worker AND washer woman was just too much.

Thanks, that's really helpful I'll have a look
