A pillow. A long charger cable.

The only c-section specific things I took were:

-Long phone charger to save trying to move

  • water bottle with a straw (drink a lot so it’s easy to pee when the catheter comes out and you don’t get a uti) 😂
  • sliders - I wore these home and for the showers
  • slippers - I took but never wore
  • spare going home outfit (my blood pressure dropped and I was sick all down my first one 🙄)
  • colparmin capsules for trapped wind that everyone says you get or peppermint tea, I took them and never experienced it so presume they worked!
-snacks with plenty of fibre -pillow left in the car to put your seat belt over the top of your belly, felt like a little treat when I got to the car and remembered I had this but a few people had said how horrible the bumps were on the way home

You’ll know from last time but have enough big very high waisted pants that you don’t need to go home and instantly wash the hospital ones. Was a particular low point handing my partner a bloody bag of pants to wash for me because I couldn’t bend down to put them on 😂😭

Everything above plus peppermint tea - saved my bloating/trapped wind agony!

  • Hand held fan - it's common to have a hot flush/ feel nauseous as the anaesthetic wears off
  • definitely a pillow, can also then use to put between you and seatbelt if you are travelling home by car
  • big knickers with the band higher than incision site. I actually bought special c-section pants, expensive but did give a nice protected feel
  • lots of snacks, I got brought food once, than after that was expected to fetch it myself, but couldn't walk the distance required Angry

A maternity /baggy nighty to change into, dressing gown, slippers, loose going home clothes (I went home in nighty, dressing gown and slippers) maternity pants/pads, shower gel/toothbrush and toothpaste earphones and charger and something to read. Snacks.

Clothes and nappies/wipes for baby and milk if bottle feeding (I took ready bottles SO much better when unable to move)

Organise your bag so everything is easy to find. I had my little outfits for DD in ziplock bags so midwife just just hand me everything all at once. They did a lot of looking after DD initially as I was very sick and unable to move well at all until later the next day so couldn't do anything myself unfortunately. They were so busy she said it made things a lot quicker for them.
