Do I need to tell anyone about blood clotting before midwife appointment

I've recently been diagnosed with protein s deficiency which is a type of blood clotting disorder. My private ivf clinic found it after some blood tests. I've been started on heparin blood thinning injections. I'm 6 weeks today so still early and don't have my midwife appointment until the end of the month, I'm just not sure if I need to mention it any earlier? Or just carry on and mention it at the booking in appointment ? My gp doesn't even know yet

Are you going to be still under the care of your IVF clinic and get necessary prescriptions from them?? If so I would wait till your booking appointment as unlikely midwives will do anything in meantime unless you need them or your GP to prescribe medication

Hi @EllieJai44 no I'm not, this was a natural pregnancy so the clinic have said they won't be having anything to do with it but did give me a private prescription for the first lot of meds. I'm presuming I should be able to get this on green script now ? I had the bloods done before I found out I was pregnant otherwise I wouldn't have known.

@thunderonlyhappenswhenits you may have to get your GP to put up a repeat for you as otherwise a pharmacy won't give you anymore, if you explain to your GP there shouldn't be an issue!

@EllieJai44 okay thank you

Hi there @thunderonlyhappenswhenits how did it go? any updates?

thunderonlyhappenswhenits · 21/02/2022 17:58

@IsabelHerna I had my booking appointment today and she didn't say alot really, just that I'll be consultant led and they will make any decisions going forwards! So I'm still none the wiser lol

Oh and the gp are going to prescribe it for me from now on, luckily, as I can't afford £100 a month !
