Can I please have your recommendations for best pregnancy pillows. 23 weeks tomorrow and my hips are killing and by back is officially broken. I just can’t sleep for more than 2 hours at a time and it’s draining me. Thanks

Very dramatic.

Just have a look on Amazon

PurBal · 10/02/2022 07:57

Sorry to be this person but I just used regular pillows. One under bump, one between legs, one to stop me rolling. I think I had 5 at one time but meant I didn’t have to buy a specialist pillow I wouldn’t use again. Given where you are in pregnancy and your discomfort I’d ask for a physio referral from your MW. Good luck.

mugoftea456 · 10/02/2022 08:19

At 23 weeks you shouldn't really be in that much discomfort to feel broken. I do recognise everyone is different, but if you are feeling that bad you need to see a doctor.

Totalwasteofpaper · 10/02/2022 08:51

I was in a terrible way 12-20 weeks.

Way more comfy at 36weeks than I was then! I got a big long one off of amazon and started baby yoga

I love my pregnancy pillow 🤩

alpinia · 10/02/2022 08:53

The hideously expensive but wonderful bbhugme. Don't think I ever want to be parted from it Grin

IDontDrinkTea · 10/02/2022 08:54

I second the bbhugme. I’ve now had the baby but still can’t bare to put it away 😂

OakRowan · 10/02/2022 08:55

You can get the bbhugme pillows on ebay, cheaper secondhand and hardly used.

Just Googled this... £140 😱

mine was about 40-50 and I just cannot believe there is a pillow in existence I could love 300% more (I really love my pregnancy pillow 😅)

It does look comfy though...

GrowBabyGrow · 10/02/2022 08:56

I third the bbhugme. It is expensive but honestly so worth it. I've read quite a few reviews where people had tried other pillows and couldn't get on with them so end up getting it when they could have taken the plunge before spending money on other pillows 🤣

However my top tip before getting a body pillow is to roll up a spare duvet, put it in a cover and try that for a few nights to check you can get comfy with such a long pillow.

ShadowPuppets · 10/02/2022 08:57

Is it sciatica rather than the weight of the baby OP? Agree with PPs that 23 weeks is early to feel so broken by pregnancy but this is my second pregnancy in two years and I’ve got pretty shocking sciatica this time around, so I can understand that kicking in even if you’re not at ‘oh god this bump is enormous’ territory.

I would say though that as PPs suggest regular pillows should help, you don’t really need a pregnancy pillow. I have a U shaped breastfeeding one, but that’s more for when baby’s here Smile

Also would recommend prenatal yoga (really helps open out your lower back) and also getting a birthing ball - too early to use it for preparing for Labour but I’ll often sit on mine for a couple of hours in the evening and I find it really helps spread the weight across my hips/back, which takes some of the pressure off before I head up to bed.

JustWonderingIfYou · 10/02/2022 09:01

I got an ugly one off amazon- sanggol. Its massive and my favourite thing ever!

Think I got it out at about 16 weeks this time.

If your back is bad make sure you get a big U shape rather than just a long sausage as its great to have something behind you.

KiwiDramaQueen · 10/02/2022 09:05

Bbhugme. It’s not going anywhere when the baby arrives. I have it downstairs in the evening too as it’s much better at supporting my back in the sofa than cushions.

Although I have to be honest, while it’s helped me position myself in the best way possible, nothing has cured my nighttime hip pain and sleeplessness during the third trimester.

EverydayIsPJday · 10/02/2022 09:08

I have a queen rose one from Amazon. Big u shaped thing. Loved it for my previous pgs. Great for creating a barrier between myself and dh 😂

Spottydotdotty · 10/02/2022 09:38

I have this one: www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07SZ55RQR/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_N4QAKB059XG3H6V76FRS?psc=1&_encoding=UTF8&tag=mumsnetforu03-21

But that's because I move around loads in bed and don't like having to drag a pillow from one side to the other side every time I turn over. Try a couple of regular pillows before you splash out on an expensive pregnancy one

ChickenRoseNugget · 10/02/2022 09:47

Dream genii! Using it for my second pregnancy now and love it

annlee3817 · 10/02/2022 10:12

I suffer with sciatica and sleeping on my left side doesn't help, I started left side sleeping early on to force myself to get used to it. I get hip pain and what feels like cramp, but I put a small pillow between my knees and that really helps (something I have always done this when my sciatica plays up too) and then I have a small draught excluder positioned behind my back, never been used as a draught excluder by the way, it was used under my Dd's sheet when she transitioned to a bed rather than a bed guard on the suggestion of someone else and worked brilliantly :) so think I'll just continue with that this time rather than buying a pregnancy pillow

I had this one too.
yorkshireteaspoonie · 10/02/2022 10:25

Can I ask what's so special about the bbhugme? Having watched the promo video it doesn't look that much different to any other pillow. What am I missing here? Is it memory foam perhaps?

Am 30 weeks and horribly in comfortable. Acid reflux is making me sleep either upright or on my left side which is aggravating the bursitis I have on that side also (not to mention the swollen sore knees) I'd give anything to be face down on my stomach right now!!

Porridgeislife · 10/02/2022 10:26

Another BBHugMe fan. I take it on weekends away as well.

Bit harsh!!

OP, I bought the Kally Sleep U shaped pillow at 15 weeks and it's been blissful. It's like being wrapped up in a giant hug. Depends whether you think you'll want a C shape or U shape or just a wedge.... i did so much reading and looking at reviews and in the end just decided to go for it

Hugasauras · 10/02/2022 10:35

I found them just kind of annoying, like I was being assaulted by a marshmallow while trying to sleep. I found just sticking some pillows between legs helped when I had sore hips near the end.

23 weeks is quite early for that kind of debilitating pain though so I'd see a doctor ASAP to get some stuff in place as it will almost certainly just keep getting worse.

LaBelleSausage · 10/02/2022 10:43

If it's this bad, this early, get the BBHugMe.
It's so so worth it.

People who only have a bit of slight pain and can use a random cushion from asda don't understand the difference in support it gives.
I tried to make it with cheaper options but I am so glad I cracked and bought the expensive one

LaBelleSausage · 10/02/2022 10:44

@yorkshireteaspoonie it's kind of like a super supportive beanbag type filling.

yorkshireteaspoonie · 10/02/2022 10:54

Okay I think I'm sold on it after this!

carboverload · 10/02/2022 11:14

My bbhugme pregnancy pillow is a dream x
