Early Scan

Hello all!

I am approximately 4 weeks pregnant according to my dates, how early could we get a scan to make sure baby is in the right place with a heartbeat?

I'm thinking 6 weeks? And we wouldn't be expecting the scan on the NHS, we would go private.

Thanks.

It's best to wait until 7 weeks as sometimes the heartbeat can't be heard until then. Wouldn't want to go a week earlier and potentially get upset if it's not heard then.

I waited until 8 weeks as know that the risk reduces more by then and knew if all was ok then I would definitely see a heartbeat. I didn't want to go earlier and be sent away and asked to come back as this would've stressed me out too much! I had one at 8 weeks, 10 weeks and 12 weeks. Do what you feel comfortable with Smile

I believe you can see a heartbeat at 6 weeks but if your dates were slightly out, you ovulated a bit later etc then you might not and you’d be unnecessarily worried.
So I’d wait until 7/8 weeks.

Aah thank you all so much.

I'm 41 and on the pill, my DH and I planned a baby but not so soon. It's a beautiful surprise and I'm full of joy and trepidation all at the same time.

My LMP was 10.01.2022 and I have a 28 day cycle.

I think we'll hold on for 8 weeks to be on the safe side.
