Hi,
I'm currently pregnant with our second child. Had our first nhs scan on Monday and dated at 13+4. Have had 2 prior at 6+2 and 8+4.
The sonographer found some placental lakes so he thought but was unsure why they was there. He got a second opinion and she didn't know & referred to me to the consultant.
Met with the lovely consultant who scanned me yesterday. Baby looking great- anterior placenta. Around 1 side of the placenta between the placenta and the uterine are ' multiple lacunae below the lower margin of the placenta and above the os'
It's described as typical for adherence but NO precipitating pathology. I'm assuming this is as it looks as though it should be placenta accreta but isn't? I've never had any surgeries.
She has put treat as retroplacental heamatoma- risk of placental deficiency later in pregnancy
She said she absolutely stumped- only ever seen this kind of thing in ladies who have had prior C sections etc etc. I've not had any. It's flowing blood in the lacunae.
So I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience or has had something similar? I'm 14 weeks pregnant and have had no bleeding so far.
Many thanks
