I went into labour spontaneously at 33 weeks with DD and the midwife has told me I may be advised to take aspirin this time to try and prevent it happening again. She was very vague though, didn't give an exact dose and just said to wait till my dating scan and ask then. Still two weeks to go till then.

The doctor said because its only one miscarriage she doesn't really want to suggest low dose aspirin if I lose again then they will but I don't want to have to go through that risk. So I don't know what to even think right now

I think you have to make your own choices. Weigh up the pros and cons and then make an Informed decision.
I took the decision myself and then just told my GP my decision. She was happy to support whatever I wanted to do as long as I k ew any risks involved.

I don't think you can make an informed decision from your own research so I'd go with your GP if you can't afford a fertility doctor. No disrespect but unless you are very clued up you won't know where to look for the latest research into the risks and benefits of interventions after one loss in your particular situation.

I had 2 back to back miscarriages, one at 7 weeks then the next at 6. My GP told me to take a low dose of aspirin after my second and I was pregnant again within a few weeks. I was also prescribed progesterone but that's because I had a day 21 test on the cycle I conceived and my level was low. I'm now weeks off having my baby. It could have been a coincidence but it seemed to work for me

Hi 👋 @jjunaki100, what I learned along the way as I am also researching due to implantation failure, Aspirin is not for everyone as it is a blood thinning medicine and can be dangerous for your body if your blood is thin anyway. However in your case maybe it makes sense to take it because you had a miscarriage. If I was you and that’s what I did was to ask my GP to run more specific blood tests which are Thrombophillia panel and Clotting panel tests. They came back all normal so I was nit given Aspirin.
I did however some tests abroad which showed gene mutations - MTHFR, PAI-1 4G/5G, ACE I/D. My GP had no clue what I am talking about neither my Fertility clinic so none of them wanted to take this into consideration.
I then reached out to prof. Lesley Regan and showed her these results. She sent me for her standard TEG test and she said that result + my other mutations suggest I can benefit from low dose Heparin after a positive test next time. She will then repeat the TEG test and depending on the results, she may prescribe me higher dose Heparin.
My point is do some more tests if you can through your GP.
There is also a miscarriage clinic in Epsom, go to their website and see what tests they do. Maybe ask your GP to do some of these for you if they agree. Some people go to Immunology tests and treatment but they are quite expensive but nit sure whether it’s something you may want to explore.
Hope this helps :)

@jjunaki100 forgot to mention few other tests my GP did for me:
-Thyroid TSH, TPO antibodies, TAT-Anti-TG, FT3, FT4

  • immunology - Anti cardiolipin IgG & IgM; Anti-Beta-2 Glycoprotein IgG & IgM
-Hormones - Testosterone, Prolactin
  • Serum C reactive protein
  • Nuclear autoantibody screen - Connective tissue disease antibodies
-Coeliac disease screen
  • Autoimmune profile - includes ANA and others..

There is a recurrent miscarriage panel, you can check what tests they normally run within it.

I was told by the midwife I need to take aspirin full 12 weeks but I've no idea how much, how often etc
