Can you request bringing c-section forward?

I’m currently 35 weeks pregnant, with c section booked for 38 weeks due to insulin controlled gestational diabetes. I’m so bloody uncomfortable, I’m not sleeping and am generally struggling with pelvic and back pain (and I’ve got suspected obstetric cholestasis) and so I just want baby out of me. This is my second pregnancy and I’ve had pretty serious mental health problems in both pregnancies. (I’m under the care of perinatal team and I’ve got a lot of support in place)
Anyone know if it’s possible to bring forward a c section??!

38 weeks is normally the earliest unless there is a medical need. Whilst I do sympathise about your back and pelvic pain I don't think they would bring the op forward based on that unfortunately Sad

There's nothing stopping you from asking but unfortunately they are very reluctant to do c sections before 38 weeks unless there's a medical reason for it :( those last few weeks in pregnancy are no joke! Sorry you're having a rough time!

They would be hesitant to bring it forward due to discomfort and pelvic pain as it’s balancing that with increasing the risk to the baby. You need those extra few weeks to help baby’s lungs establish.

You can ask. I was scheduled for 39 weeks and requested a week earlier. They were open to it but explained how the baby’s lungs are not fully developed at this time and it would put them at risk of breathing difficulties. The risk of this wasn’t worth it for me. Hope you get through these last weeks ok.

I don't think they would do it as you would need the steroids? Not sure though.
I sympathise... I'm booked for 39+4 with GD, but only on Metformin.

They wouldn't do it unless there was an incredibly good/urgent reason. Having had a late preterm baby I don't recommend it, they're not fully developed yet, almost but not totally. If the baby was born 35-37 weeks before it was ready you could be in NICU/SCBU for weeks.

My baby was born at 35 weeks as an emergency and she wasn't ready. She spent 2 weeks in special care was jaundice had feeding problems failure to thrive and hyper mobility because of her early arrival. I know it's hard and tough on your body but trust me that the best place for your baby is in you at the moment
