I went for a scan a week ago, which by all the apps & NHS dates I should have been 7 weeks. The private sonographer said there was no sign of a sac or embryo and classed it at a PUL.

They took it very serious and referred me to my local early pregnancy unit. However, when the NHS nurse called they said that at the moment they didn't want me to come in and I was to wait at least 2 weeks before I should go for a scan again. I have always been sceptical of my dates, however, I now have my first midwife appointment in a week and I am just so confused about what to do.

The early pregnancy unit said because I have no signs of miscarriage or pain etc that they can't scan me (I get it, NHS policies etc) I am trying to get through to my Midwife team to explain (again NHS, can't get them on the phone) I don't want to go and do that appointment with no clue whether there is anything inside. Also, I just don't have the money for another £80 private scan.

Not sure where to turn, or how long to wait to get a really true picture on timings. I have had a MMC before, so the anxiety of going through that again is paining me. I should be on NHS paper 8 weeks, but I am sure I am more like 6.

Any advice on who I should turn to I would be greatly appreciative. I am happy to wait, I just want in my head to have a date where I will know and so I am not in limbo.

Personally I would go to the EPU and wait, I know the wait is so hard, I've had to do it and currently doing it- it's the worse but it gives you the best chance of seeing something on the scan, good luck whatever you choose!

I wish I could, they said if I was to go they couldn't do anything for me as I have no real reason to be there. Also the EPU is closed off for covid, you can't get in without an appointment

Early scans cause so many problems especially if dates aren't certain. Waiting 2 weeks means they can give you conclusive results rather than saying "still can't see anything come back in 2 weeks". I'm so pleased private scans didn't exist because I know of so much upset and anxiety caused by them
