Sickness question

Hi everyone. I am around 7-8 weeks pregnant, first pregnancy and absolutely hate vomit/vomiting. Not quite emetaphobia but not far off. So far I have just has nausea and gagged a couple or times but not actually been sick. My mum said I would be 'very lucky' if I wasn't actually sick. So my question is, when did your sickness start or were you not sick at all? 🤞

My nausea started around 5 weeks and then this progressed to being sick at around 7 weeks. I've been sick most days since then. Will be 13 weeks tomorrow. I am worse in the mornings and then rarely sick in the afternoon/evening but do have a nausea feeling all day long!

Sleepdeprived921 · 29/01/2022 21:29

I didn’t have any sickness at all throughout my pregnancy but would sometimes get nausea if I didn’t eat often.. so fingers crossed for you you won’t get any either Smile congratulations too x

Hugasauras · 29/01/2022 21:29

I've not been sick with either pregnancy (except when I got norovirus just before Christmas Envy). Just a lot of nausea.

Lostintranslatio · 29/01/2022 22:12

My nausea started before week 6 and lasted until week 15-16, with its worst at weeks 10-11. However I only got actually sock three times in all that time, it was mostly a continuous nauseous feeling.

I had sickness from 9-16 weeks with son 1 and 4-17 weeks with my current pregnancy. Like you I’m scared of being sick so basically a bloody nightmare day after day. I wasn’t actually sick in either of my pregnancies. But op it’s not good even if your not sick, I won’t lie I was very low. But it does pass. Good luck.

Nausea from 5 weeks, vomitting from 7. At its worst being sick up to 10 times a day, even waking up in the night to be sick. Began to ease at about 16 weeks.

Turniptracker · 29/01/2022 22:17

Constant all day nausea from 6 to 16 weeks but never once vomited

Your mum is wrong, most pregnant women experience some level of nausea, but it’s not true to say that only the very lucky don’t vomit.
You are coming into what is statistically the peak weeks (8-9) and once past that it should hopefully stop getting worse, plateau for a few weeks then start to drop off.

If you’re the kind of person that finds statistics helpful, the below link is good. I have quite severe emetophobia and found doing research into it helped a bit as I felt more informed. But of course you might prefer to read nothing about it, which may be more sensible than my borderline obsessive research that I did in early pregnancy!

I’ve read that a deficiency of vitamin B6 and magnesium can trigger morning sickness which might be worth looking into if it’s bad; I had nausea with certain foods slightly with first pregnancy but none at all this time thankfully. I hope you’re managing and that it eases soon

annlee3817 · 30/01/2022 05:57

I've had nausea from 6 weeks, currently 9+3, it's been bad, but I've not been sick once, a few times I've had that watery feeling in my mouth, but thankfully no vomiting

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 30/01/2022 06:10

First pregnancy I wasn't sick or nauseous. Just a lot of indigestion/heartburn. Then when I hit wk36 I got ill with a condition I didn't know I had. I was in hospital for a week before I discharged myself as I was just getting worse being there. I was sick more in one week than I've been in my entire life. It was horrendous.

This current pregnancy I've felt nauseous a lot. Still am now at almost 38wks. I hate it but I've only actually been sick a handful of times. The entire pregnancy has been very different to the first and I can't wait for it to be over.

Just to say if you do experience severe nausea or are being sick, do speak to your GP because there are drugs that can help. My first pg was bad, so when I started getting the same symptoms with my second the GP prescribed some medication which really helped - virtually stopped the nausea and was only sick 3-4 times in total.

tintodeverano2 · 30/01/2022 11:03

Nausea, but only threw up once due to car sickness.
