How to conceal a pregnancy on a theme park holiday when you can't go on rides HELP! :)

Hello!

I have recently discovered I am pregnant - 5-6 weeks. To say it was a shock would be an understatement.

I am due to go on a break, away with my partners family next week and part of the trip is to do a treetop adventure - ziplines and rollercoasters etc. I obviously cannot do anything like this and their website even says pregnant women shouldn't partake. The ticket was a gift from my mother in law for Christmas.

Does anyone have any bright ideas as to how I can get out of this? I will still have to go on the trip (and want to) but I also don't know how to get out of going on any treetop trampolines (fml) without coming across as rude or ungrateful for the gift! I am already having to plan on lying about why I cannot get in the hot tub.

Hundred percent not ready to tell family yet.

I was also going to say develop a sprained ankle and hobble about in various stages of extreme pain.

Baby might be well protected but would you honestly want to risk it. If you go on the rides and then in a few weeks time miscarry it'll constantly be playing on your mind whether or not it was that, that caused it. Trust me you literally pick at every possibility when it happens. Vertigo or even a migraine would be good excuses not to ride.

Thirtytimesround · 28/01/2022 23:27

Please don’t listen to the posters telling you to just do the activities. I know someone who lost their baby with this kind of stuff and someone else who nearly did.

Anyway. Food poisoning? Middle ear infection? Vertigo? Or how about a back injury that makes sudden/jerky movement painful.

MrsSkylerWhite · 28/01/2022 23:29

Food poisoning, Covid, awful headache, twisted ankle. I wouldn’t normally feel comfortable fibbing but needs must.

HopingForMyRainbowBaby · 28/01/2022 23:30

Oh and hot tub. You've suddenly developed a bit of high blood pressure and the drs have said no hot tubs until it's righted itself. Or you could also have an infection in your foot and don't want to spread it to everyone else.

Fake a sprained wrist? A wrist support wrap looks very authentic and effective as it gives a visual to the story.

WideOpenSpaces · 28/01/2022 23:42

I was strapped to the open ramp of a military cargo plane at 22 weeks.. you'll be fine on a zip line lol

Hellosunshiner · 28/01/2022 23:43

Also you wouldn't want to get a wrist strap wet in the hot tub.

Which theme park is this? Never heard of treetop trampolines before!!

laurenGame · 29/01/2022 00:04

I went to a huge theme park overseas, 4 weeks pregnant - totally fine. Website says you can't go but that's during later months.

I understand that you might not want to go, fair enough. But I guarantee you everyone will know you're pregnant, especially as you'll have an excuse for all the rides and the hot tub.

Congrats btw Smile

High blood pressure is a good idea too actually as advisable not to drink/ go on rides and use hot tubs! But virtually no symptoms.

I wouldn't do those things either.

I've had labyrinthitis and vertigo and it can make you feel sick so would be could if you suffering from morning sickness and need frequent lie downs! - I was actually quite poorly with it and wouldn't be able to fake it!

CurryandSnuggle · 29/01/2022 11:58

I did theme park rides and swimming flumes at 6 weeks, embryo is so small and cushioned there is minimal risk. Up to you though.

I wouldn’t get in the hot tub though as I think heat can affect development.

pinksquash13 · 29/01/2022 20:18

I would personally just tell them about pregnancy. It will make the whole experience much easier, less stressful for you and if you're in the average child bearing years then everyone will guess pregnancy even with a plausible excuse.

Glitterygreen · 29/01/2022 20:23

I think the rides thing is due to sharp starting and stopping and the harness being over your stomach...basically chance of impact.

I'd just avoid anything super fast and go on the gentler things. I'd probably go with the bad back excuse.

I have a similar holiday with DP's family coming up but I'll be about 16 weeks by then so they'll likely know.
