Doesn’t seem to be in pain and not projectile but he definitely brings up after most feeds.. is this normal or could be an issue ?

I’ve had one baby that had terrible reflux (think throwing up practically every whole feed) to one baby that is rarely sick. I think in general babies do posset a bit but after every feed seems like the beginning of reflux. Keep an eye on it, it could also be CMPA.

Very normal, like PP said just keep an eye out for more worrying signs like rash, poor weight gain, back arching, pain etc etc

Can cmpa be from breast milk ? Thanks so much

When mine were small it was called posseting and it was normal.

FTEngineerM · 27/01/2022 20:42

It’s not uniform ime.
DS1 want sick until 4m old and then it was only once until he was ill at 9 months old.
DS2 spewing every few hours sometimes a little sometimes a lot.

Both breastfed in the beginning (DS1 much longer than DS2).

Want=Wasn’t

As long as baby is growing and putting on weight and doing plenty of wet nappies it’s perfectly normal and it is thought that it may actually protect against over feeding and help their immune system.

Ducksurprise · 27/01/2022 20:55

One of mine projectile vomited after every feed, but as they gained weight it was considered OK. Agree that posseting a small amount is v normal

little bits of throw up can be normal as long as there is weight gain. Replying to this as I had a stomach hernia (hiatus hernia) as a baby and being from a small scottish town, our doctor was a drunk who wouln't refer me for checks and repeatedly told my parents "babies throw up, that's what they do". Apparently by the time my parents went around the doctor and took me to a hospital I was very malnourished. Keep an eye on your baby's weight gain, hopefully this really is nothing. Doctors often try to get rid of worried mums thinking there is nothing wrong/they are just stressed new parents, but you know your baby.

As a note to how they figured out things were wrong, I was pulling apparently myself up to stand in my cot at 6 months because it was so painful to lie down with the acid. It sounds like yours doesn't seem to be in pain which is a good sign!

BabyOnBoard90 · 28/01/2022 02:02

Need to burp it properly

RedRobin100 · 28/01/2022 04:39

Yes very normal
I was always covered in little sick eruptions, but he was fine and didn’t have painful reflux or anything like that’s I don’t think he even noticed it happening

RedRobin100 · 28/01/2022 04:42

To add - I think posset is the appropriate term fo what we had. It seemed like he was bringing back up his feed but in reality it was only really about as much as a spoonful.
Very annoying tho!

This is a really good source of advice and reassurance but yes totally normal and my almost seven month old still does it

Fleur405 · 28/01/2022 12:55

Some babies do this and some don’t. As long as they are putting on weight and don’t seem to be in any discomfort then it’s fine.

To answer your question re cmpa, yes this can be triggered via breast milk and if suspected you’d be advised to try eliminating dairy for a while but doesn’t sound like baby has any of the typical symptoms.

Do speak to your HV if you have any concerns though.
