formula bottle to take out and about?

I am very confused about safety/sterilising for taking bottles out

LO is currently 1 month & having ready made formula cartons, which at home we pour into a bottle, warm up & feed him

Going out for first time today & want to take bottle with me - is it possible to make up the bottle, then use it say 2 hours later or is this unsafe? how do people do this? thanks

Sterilise the bottle but don’t put the formula in - when they’re ready for a feed, put it in.
As an aside, it’s going to cost you an absolute fortune if you’re only using ready made formula! Invest in a perfect Prep machine and save the ready made stuff for when you’re out and about!

NHS advice is to use within 2 hours of making the milk. Or within 1 hour of baby first taking a sip. So if you made the bottle at 12 they'd have to eat before 2pm. If they took a sip at 12:30 would need to finish by 13:30, although I tend to just use the 2hrs now my LO is older.

If I'm going out for longer than that I take a bottle of ready to feed. You can also take pre- measured powder and a flask of hot water and make it up while out then wait for it to cool (takes a while to cool enough). A flask of boiling water should be hot enough (over 70C) for 4hrs. I just find ready to feed easier as I don't do it that often.

DS won't drink milk cold anymore (used to be fine, now fussy!) so I have a tommee tippee bottle warmer (basically a flask of hot water). You can also ask a restaurant to give you hot water but they don't all like to do it. Or try cold milk - it isn't harmful and if they'll drink it that's a lot easier!

Sorry only just saw that you're using ready made formula. Should drink that (finish) within 2 hr of pouring into sterilised bottle.

Agree with the other poster though - powder is not that hard and much cheaper! Then you can get small ready to feed bottles that live in your changing bag and will last for months!

We made up empty sterile bottles (lid on) and I packed them with the cartons (3 for a morning...always had a spare just in case!). I kept them in an insulated lunch bag just bc I wanted them seperate from the changing bag.

Open the sterilised bottle and then pour in the ready made carton.

I had a thermos of warm water to pop the bottle in , in the colder months
