I had a DS 6 months ago and throughout the pregnancy I kept raising the issue with my midwife that I believed I had pre-eclampsia. She would go through the list of symptoms with me and I had all of them, so she would take my blood pressure which was in the healthy range, and say no and send me on my way.
It got to the delivery and while in labour the midwives said they did think I had pre-eclampsia and I had probably had it for a while and that it probably should have been picked up.
I have had low blood pressure for years, to the point where I tend to have 80's over 50's as a good day, and if I go near any sort of anaesthetic or get dehydrated the smaller number can easily drop into the 30's for short periods of time. This was noticed at my earlier prenatal checkups, and the rise in pressure was said to be because of my DS. However, I'm wondering if its possible it was pre-eclampsia and it wasn't picked up because my blood pressure didn't get high enough for a normal person's blood pressure?
I'm just starting to worry as I got a BFP today and don't want to go through the same thing again, and if I do get pre-eclampsia I want it to be picked up so that it can be monitored this time. Has anyone ever had this experience or knows if it's possible to have pre-eclampsia without your blood pressure going to such high numbers, and instead be based on the rise from their usual pressure? x
