Hi everyone,
New to this - my friend recommended it Smile
I have PCOS, myself and my husband have been trying for a baby since last July, still no luck Sad
I am having my bloods checked again on Friday to check all of my levels and I am 2lbs away from being refereed to the fertility clinic (BMI is too high) Hmm
Has anyone else been in a similar situation and fell pregnant?

Thank you

Hi. I didn't want to read and run. I'm currently 7 weeks pregnant with my longed for second baby. I've got pcos and endometriosis and I'm overweight. I had my daughter when I was 19, I'm now 39. I was offered very little help as I had a child already but I fell naturally pregnant in December which was a complete surprise. I've seen lots of pcos success stories, you may need clomid or perhaps even ivf or like me it can still happen naturally.

Just to add my periods have been so post the place, for years I never had any. Then they came back last year out of the blue.

HollyBrwn · 26/01/2022 20:10

Congratulations!
Were you taking any vitamins?
I am 2lbs away from being referred so fingers crossed. I just feel so disheartened by it all Sad
My periods were irregular but I started to get them regularly when I started in Insitol. X

Hiya, I have PCOS and this is my 4th pregnancy although fingers crossed 2nd child.
It’s so much harder trying for a baby with PcOS my peroids have never been regular so very hard to tell. I had to use OPK and temp to be able to know when I was ovulating. For the last 6/7 months I have been on metformin which is meant to help with PCOS and help you loose weight. The medicine hasn’t helped me as my cycles haven’t become anymore regular but between doing OPKs and temping I have been able to become pregnant quite a few times. Hopefully you’ll be referred soon and can get clomid and that will be a massive help.

Hi OP, i have PCOS and had DD1 last June. She was conceived after i took metformin + letrozole. One tip is that if you are a larger lady, letrozole works better than clomid, so once you get your referral, worth asking which is used. It took us 3 cycles to get our BFP! Wishing you lots of luck Flowers

Amtheyest17 · 26/01/2022 22:00

Hi OP,

I have PCOS & Endo and luckily got pregnant my first try. I will say that I have a normal BMI & regular periods but loads of other PCOS/hormonal imbalance symptoms including very polycystic ovaries 4 months before my BFP.

A couple of things I did; Identified my type of PCOS, changed my diet (I wasn’t overly strict but lockdown did help), reduced stress, and started taking supplements. I was taking B6, omega 3, NAC.

Obviously it’s not a one size fits all but these things did help me & I saw a difference in some of my symptoms!

I have PCOS and have been trying for 2 years, we got offered IVF 2 months ago but have just fell pregnant naturally and I'm now 5+weeks. The only thing I took was metformin ❤️ I hope you get lucky soon Grin

Gizmo16 · 27/01/2022 09:19

I have PCOS and just found out I’m 5 weeks pregnant after years of trying. I’ve never missed a period but my cycle used to fluctuate between 29-32 days so every month was different. Honestly I was so sick of the lack of support from drs, I went to a private nutritionist and got some supplements to support my body and made changes to my diet (as best as I could cos I love food!) and lifestyle. After a year of these changes, we finally got a positive test and are so happy! Don’t lose hope - it will happen! Smile

Lauren0902 · 27/01/2022 09:30

I was diagnosed with PCOS at 19, i'm now 37 and over weight. We had a surprise pregnancy in July which absolutely shocked me (still in shock to be honest!). I used to have 2 or 3 periods a year although that had all changed when i tried 5:2 way of eating and they became more regular - i put all that weight back on during lockdown though and more. Going by my dates i seem to ovulate very early, as in a few days after my period has finished

laurenGame · 27/01/2022 11:51

Hi I have PCOS, started ttc last feb, got pregnant in October.
My BMI is low though (20) and I was strict on eating (low sugar low carb), the dr thinks the diet helped me.

I was also on Cq10 300mg super strength.
Good luck and hope you get your BFP soon. X

HollyBrwn · 14/02/2022 22:51

Thank you all so much for your comments! Sorry for the delay, I have taken some time off of social media as my mental health has been quite bad in terms of trying for a baby and having no success 😔

Last week I was ovulating but bleeding very heavily also. Has anyone else experienced this before?
Had a telephone call with my doctor who can't really understand it either.

I am being referred back to gynaecology and the fertility clinic but I wouldn't be offered IVF at the moment due to having a BMI of 33 and your BMI needs to be 30.

I am seriously at my wits end 💔 I am definitely trying to be more positive though as being negative all the time won't be helping!

Hi Holly,

Sorry to hear you've been having a hard time x. I totally get it. I know it won't make things better but know you are not alone in this journey.

I too have pcos and also had bleeding last month around ovulation quite heavily but I am on Clomid. The fertility clinic I was with said they wouldn't investigate until it repeated. So hopefully a one off for us both!

Have they said about clomid or metformin as options for you?

Just remember that with pcos you have the eggs, it's just getting them out and meeting sperm that might need a little help. I have a ds, 4 who is proof of that and there are tons of success stories out there. Be kind to yourself 💕

Girlmumdogmumboymum · 16/02/2022 00:10

I was in a sort of similar position OP!
I was diagnosed at 21 with PCOS, always told to just lose weight, but never given real advice on how to manage my PCOS or anything.
I put on instead of lost, which continued on!

I got very very very overweight. Covid became a thing, I thought flipping heck, if I do catch covid I'm done. Had private weightloss surgery.

At at BMI of 36.5 I was told I had a lot of scarring in my pelvic region, which they thought was down to PCOS, this was the opinion of two separate professionals and they both said the likelihood of having more children (I had a 13 year old at the time but couldn't conceive after her) was slim to none.

Still the thought was in my head that I'd lose a few more BMI points then ask for help with fertility.

I then had a surprise pregnancy. Just in the 3rd trimester today!

Please keep hope! Also, if you're still getting PCOS symptoms it doesn't always mean you're not ovulating- I thought I still wasn't because the facial hair was still coming through steadily and the androgenic alopecia seemed to be worsening, but nope. I ovulate and got pregnant.

If I can recommend anything, it's exercise. Be as active as you can and try to drop your carbs and increase protein.

I was also

HopefulRose · 16/02/2022 11:59

Hi @HollyBrwn yes I was in your situation. I had a BMI of 39. I lost five stone in six months last year then fell pregnant two months after my periods returned. Now 35 weeks!

Dyra · 16/02/2022 13:25

Awww. I completely empathise. It's so hard when it seems everyone else is getting pregnant, but it's just not happening for you. Sad All I can say atm is to keep trucking with the weight loss so you can be seen by the fertility clinic. Exercise and cutting out carbs got me there.

Once I got to the target weight, and got to see the fertility clinic, I was placed on Metformin (to kick-start periods) and low dose Thyroxine. While my TSH was "normal", the fertility clinic wanted it lower than it was. Once I was on both of those, the weight started falling off even more. Unfortunately I still wasn't falling pregnant, so was put on Clomid, which worked spectacularly well on the first try. DD is now two.

Pregnant again (34 weeks!) after only 5 months trying. I was on Metformin again (periods never came back) and was also taking Myo Inositol (supposed to assist ovulation). Took me by surprise as I really thought it was going to take much longer and/or require Clomid again.

Really hope it happens for you soon.

HollyBrwn · 16/02/2022 21:34

@Sparkledust1990 So I am on Metformin at the moment but I am unsure if it's that or the Inositol that regulated my periods.

I am just so confused with it all. I am really trying to loose weight but I do so well then get stuck 😔

Knowing I'm not alone 100% helps! 💗

HollyBrwn · 16/02/2022 21:36

@Dyra So many people have said about Clomid but am I right in saying you need to be seen at the fertility clinic first?

I just feel at my wits end when even the doctor can understand why I was bleeding so heavily but ovulating 🤷🏼‍♀️
I am hoping by the time I get an appointment to go and see someone I will have lost that little bit more weight xx

HollyBrwn · 16/02/2022 21:38

@Girlmumdogmumboymum Congratulations!
I have noticed that some months going by my app it says I don't ovulate which I did find really strange xx

OP posts:
HollyBrwn · 16/02/2022 21:40

@Gizmo16 Congratulation's! Did you feel going to the private nutritionist helped? This is something I might look in to xx

OP posts:
Gizmo16 · 17/02/2022 08:17

@HollyBrwn yep it definitely did! They take the time to look at your whole lifestyle and eating habits and explain when to eat, how to put meals together and how gluten free and dairy free isn’t necessarily the answer the PCOS. Good luck!
