Short of breath

Currently 29 weeks pregnant and been suffering with breathlessness since 22 weeks. Weirdly enough I had Covid between week 24-25 of pregnancy, and it went away during that time!

I do have mild asthma too & find taking my asthma inhaler helps, but I’m using it regularly during the day and night at the moment

Had all my bloods checked last week & nothing was wrong. Is this just a part of pregnancy that will continue / get worse until baby is here now?

I had shortness of breath from about 26 weeks with DS2, I spoke to my midwife who had a feel of my bump and said it was just where he was high up and his head was right in my ribs. It did improve slightly once he had turned head down, then came the constant kicks in the ribs!

It's really uncomfortable so I sympathise with you! Maybe speak to your MW if you're worried, but no real advice to offer I'm afraid xx

It is pretty common to get breathless although not until a bit further along when baby is bigger and stealing some of your lung capacity. I’ve had breathlessness this time since quite early on (about 14 weeks) and the midwife told me at that stage to call triage if it got worse. In the end I was under consultant care and consultant says it’s just the baby’s position (Baby refuses to bend legs so I literally have a pair of feet wedge under one of my lungs). So it’s probably fine but I would check with your midwife just to be sure.

I was breathless when my iron was low. Have you had that checked?

I don’t have any advice to share but in the same boat! I’ve been breathless on and off this whole pregnancy (currently 32 weeks) and have low blood pressure (85/56) but my midwife doesn’t seem concerned. I’m assuming it’s the positioning of baby?

I have been told my baby is quite high up so i guess that’s what’s causing it too! Hopefully mine improves too when he moves 🤞🏼
@Sexnotgender my iron results were fine last Friday x
@HRP1990 it’s tough isn’t it! I’m going back into the office next week so I’m hoping moving around more in the day could help a bit?!
