IVF pregnany and overdue - what's the deal?

Hello,
I'm getting confused about whether there is an issue about IVF babies going overdue.
DD1 was born 9 days late after 2 sweeps and only hours before an induction was due. I was told that most IVF pregnancies should not be allowed to go past their due date, but that it did not matter with me because I had no underlying fertility issues.
DD2 is due in 2 weeks and 3 days, and I'm expecting her to be late too. I've been told (by a different hospital) that they won't start sweeps etc until a week after the due date (I had one 2 days before due date with DD1, much good that it did!).
I understand that originally the reason for not allowing IVF pregnancies to go overdue was because you could be certain about the dates of conception, unlike with a normal conception.
Is there an issue with IVF babies going overdue? If so, why? I am desperate to not have another very late baby, although don't want a caesarean unless absolutely necessary.

Thanks @Holskey !
Oh poor you, it must have been so stressful :((
I have asthma and at the moment it's flaring up but hoping to improve by the time my lo is due.
I just don't like when inductions are being offered to the uncomplicated pregnancies easily just due to slightly increased (and still very small in absolute values!) risks with ivf and not so small risks of induction itself. I did quite a bit of reading on that incl. Sarah Wickham books but also ivf research directly (for example www.therealbirthcompanyltd.com/2021/04/28/ivf-and-stillbirth/)
I'm absolutely in favour of induction when offered due to medical risks though like cholestasis, pre-eclampsia etc!

I had an IVF baby born at 42+2.

No doctor or consultant would use the due date worked out based on the dates of my procedures. They insisted on using the dating scan. I was induced and only on admission for the induction did the senior midwife consider my dates…and then tell me I should have pushed the other medical professionals more during my pregnancy!

And how much discrepancy was there between your dating scan and the ivf due date? I have this too, the difference is 2 days but the hospital are rolling with the dating scan edd for some reason.

I had my IVF baby in April. My trust would have allowed me to go over however after researching myself, I asked for an induction around my due date. DS was born 40+3 by c-section at 8lbs 2.

I am on my second IVF pregnancy and currently overdue. both times they’ve booked a consultant spot for 38 weeks to discuss induction but decided it was unnecessary. First time I went into spontaneous labour at 40+5, hoping for same this time!

I was told that there was a chance the baby could be stillborn if allowed to go over, I was never really told why. I had a planned c section 12 days early.

I had to fight the hospital on my EDD as I measured 2wks bigger throughout my pregnancy. I did point out that I could tell them to the minute what time I got pregnant and the exact age of the embryo (IVF) and they agreed to change the dates. They also wanted to induce early (so could have been almost a month early if I hadn’t pushed back) but we agreed to wait until I was a week overdue. Born at 40+5 in the end with natural onset of labour.

Good for you for standing by your choice and fighting them. It's really stressful and fighting against the hospital policies even when they don't make sense in your particular case is really draining. It baffles me how keen they are on induction even if there's no need for it. If needed I'll also fight them to accept my ivf transfer date instead of the dating scan edd even if it's only 2 days. The perspective of being born so early!!like your case entails its own problems with baby's health and immune system and organ development. But that of course it's just my opinion.
