Would you recommend a 3D/4D scan?

I’m thinking about getting a 3D/4D scan around 27/28 weeks but I’m just a bit undecided!

What are everyone’s opinions?

Thank you 🙂

I have a 4d scan booked for 28 weeks. I am also had a gender scan where the sonographer switched to 4d and it was amazing. Definitely worth it in my opinion 😊

Loved it with our first son! Definitely doing it with our second boy Smile

I find them a bit creepy

Okay I'm going to sound like a fun sponge but quite honestly I thought it was a waste of money. I swear my baby didn't look anything like he did on the screen they all look the same 🙈

We loved ours! I'd recommend keeping your eye open for offers, we managed to get quite a good deal. We could tell from ours that baby looks like big brother!

I did one at 16 weeks because my in-laws wanted to know the baby's sex and because we were in the Middle East where the cost was about 30GBP.

I personally didn't find it worth it beyond the opportunity to see the baby again earlier. I found it harder to understand what the sonographer was looking at live because I'm used to seeing regular 2D ultrasound images. I also think the 3D image is quite a lot of computer rendering and not a totally accurate picture. For example in the 12 week scan (2D) it was really easy for me to see the baby move. In the 3D scan at 16 weeks the sonographer said the baby was moving normally and I did see some movement myself, but it was less clear, which made me think the scan rendering was averaged over a longer time period. It might be better at 28 weeks when the baby is a lot bigger though!

I had a 3D scan with my first and again with this pregnancy. If you do want one you really don’t have to pay a fortune. If you book a gender scan with Ultrasound Direct it’s £60 and you get a “sneak peak” at your baby in 3D. They send you the pictures to your phone including 2D and 3D pictures. So not only did I get to see both my baby’s in 3D I was able to get the gender confirmed too

I booked one at 27 weeks on Dad-to-be's birthday.

At first, I felt a bit like maybe we'd spoiled the surprise of seeing her little face in real life.

But the more I looked at the pictures, the more I fell in love with them. It's lovely looking at her chubby cheeks and pouty lips as she already looked like me!

Yes, I've done one with each of my kids and absolutely dont regret it. I'm now expecting number 4 and will do it again..it's also an opportunity to see baby in the third trimester. Seems so long to go from 20 weeks until birth with no scan

I had a freebie 3d/4d with my last and hated it. It's creepy and baby looks nothing like how they do once out. I regreted it quite a bit. I'm not doing it this time.
