Piriton

Hi,

I'm 31 weeks pregnant and found I have started to get terrible itching. I have been told I have raised bile levels but I have now started with an unbearable itch on my bump with I think is PUPPPS.

My consultant told me that I can take Piriton which has helped relive the itch and give me some sleep at night as without it I only manage around 2-4 hours sleep.

The only problem is that the next day I feel drowsy and I find baby movements are reduced. When I don't take it baby movements are very active.

Could this be because of the Piriton? Did anyone else notice this if they took Piriton?

Oh gosh. Please contact your maternity unit. I understand you're asking for similar experiences, but because of your raised bile levels you are at increased risk of serious complications. Reduced movements are something to take seriously - every single time they happen.

This one just isn't very Internet- advice appropriate I don't think. Do contact your maternity hospital this morning - don't wait - you wont be bothering them.

Wishing you the best of luck with your baby!

Well piriton can certainly make you feel drowsy esp if you take the max dose. My consultant last time did tell me I could take piriton (I didn’t need to in the end) but did not mention reduced movement as a side effect which I would have expected her to if that was likely.

I agree you should call ASAP as you need medical advice Re your specific situation especially with reduced movements.
