I'm being induced April 18th and I'm pretty much prepared clothes wise, in every stage as I can be. She has a range of sizes, different style vests. Long sleeve, short sleeve ect. Plenty of sleepsuits for both night and day wear. Of course some sweet little outfits. Cardigans.

Now I'm just stumped on, do I get a pram suit or do I just get a little rain coat style jacket or a cotton style jacket for her? Weather in England in April is so unpredictable so I'm not sure what to get. I've looked at pramsuits but I'm just worried they'll be to thick for the month she's born in.

I'd wait until baby is here to decide, not only for weather reasons but for size. You likely won't need one in April anyway.

Tuppence and Crumble blanket? Then you can use on its own or layer up with others.

DS was born early May 2020 and it was roasting from birth but 2021 would have been very different!

@Lockdownmummy thoughts exactly on the blankets and then just layering weather depending. I have anything from fleece blankets, wool, cable blankets. All different levels of thick and warmth/cooler😂

first time mum so all of this is so overwhelming to me🙈

Selection of cardigans and blankets for layering, hats too. So much more practical than a pram suit which is virtually impossible to get onto a newborn.

@littlemissdozy perfect. I would just plan to layer up at the moment and if it's turns out to be artic in April get something last minute if needed

Pram suits are a complete pain to get on tiny babies to be honest, you’ll likely not need one in April anyway. Sounds like you’ve got plenty of clothes and blankets so I wouldn’t worry! A knitted cardigan if it’s chilly plus a little hat and a blanket or two in the pram will be fine!

I would buy a little coat and a woolly blanket to go over the legs in the pram.

Thank you ladies, I'll just get her a little cotton jacket that is thicker than a cardigan incase weather is very English🙄

I've had two winter babies (December and January) and have never put either of them in a pramsuit. DS has a thin fleece suit but honestly, I put him in that mostly because he looks adorable in it Blush

I use blankets, gloves and hats to really layer up. I've got a very thick, fleece lined pram blanket for days when it's particularly cold. By layering up, if I go and sit in a cafe or if I want baby to stay asleep after I get him home, I don't have to wake the baby up trying to get him out of a thick suit, I can just loosen the blankets/take gloves and hats off etc. It also means I can transition from pram to sling (pramsuits are dangerous when used in slings or carriers!).

TLDR: don't bother with a pramsuit, just get some blankets of varying weights!

Pramsuits and coats are a waste of time for tiny ones unless you don't have a car. They can't wear them in the car seat and are an effort to get on and if its that cold you'll likely not want to be hanging around outside with a tiny one. Lots of layers and maybe one of them star shaped blankets you can just took them in would be my plan.
