Pregnant after multiple miscarriages - on cyclogest

I am SO worried! I'm trying not to be, I'm being as positive as possible (just like my tests Grin )
I'm on cyclogest pessaries & 150mg Aspirin.
I have such intense bloating it's genuinely uncomfortable- has anyone else had this with the cyclogest?
I have no other symptoms really which is worrying me also!
I only found out this week, and have great line progression, did a digital today (14dpo) and that said pregnant so I'm not testing anymore. I feel better now it's said the word 'pregnant'.

Sorry I'm rambling! It's so different to be pregnant after losses.
Anyone in the same boat?

I am currently 28 weeks pregnant after taking cyclogest & aspirin this pregnancy. Previous to this I had 4 miscarriages (no living children)
I don’t think I really had any side effects to either of the medications. I was advised to take them both til 20 weeks.
I really hope the meds help you to get your rainbow baby 🤞🏼

@Pepperlypue I had awful gas and bloating on cyclogest (went away after stopped taking at 16wks) so I think it can be a side effect. DS is now 9 months.

Congratulations on your pregnancy.

Sorry to jump in on here. I've had three miscarriages now and take cyclogest (was anyway for ivf, not that I ever had a bfp from ivf) from positive test. Why 150mg of aspirin and when did you start? I've read a lot of contradictory advice about when to start (after ovulation, from positive tests, only after 8 weeks etc). When doing ivf I had to take 75 until the day before transfer then stop!

I'm not pregnant, but it would be us useful to know. When did you start the cyclogest too? I'm seeing the miscarriage clinic in a month.

I think cyclogest is known for bloating unfortunately. Try and drink enough and do some gentle exercise like walking.

Pepperlypue · 22/01/2022 09:34

Thankyou everyone. @MrsS89K congrats! I hope you've had a nice pregnancy and continue to.

@seven201 it depends on the consultant/hospital I guess. Some start from ovulation but mine was from a positive pregnancy test. I got a bfp at 11dpo so started then.
I'm on Aspirin due to recurrent miscarriages. They tested me for sticky blood twice, once was positive once was negative so I'm on it 'just incase' it helps I guess.
When you're pregnant you have an increase in blood flow so thinning it is a positive (as far as I know from doctors)
I'm on cyclogest because I have PCOS and the recurrent miscarriages could be due to very low levels of progesterone which is key to success in the first 12 weeks.

Hope that helps!

@Mimba1 I think I'm on it until 16 weeks too, so hopefully the side effects will stop after that! I'm very uncomfortable 🤣

@Pepperlypue thank you, that's helpful. I have PCO too. I've had progesterone drop after ivf so I'm on injections of it too when with them. I usually wait to pregnancy test until a day or two late, but this has made me realise I should be testing early so I could start the progesterone sooner!

Best of luck with your pregnancy.

Pepperlypue · 22/01/2022 20:36

@seven201 I start testing at 10dpo usually. It was black on 10dpo, barely visible at all 11dpo with fmu, by 230pm it was obviously positive but because of all the forums I've read I've been so panicked by not having a positive at 8/9dpo!

I'm not sure if I have pcos or pco. I have no periods as I don't ovulate, I have the 'ring of pearls' classic cysts on my ovaries but no excess hair etc x

Hey I'm not 100% on what the question was but I'm on 800mg cyclogest + aspirin (plus a few other things!) after 4 MCs. I've finally made it past 8 weeks and now at 14 weeks. The side effects of the medication are of course, totally worth it xx

Rachae · 23/01/2022 09:04

Oh I re-read... Symptoms wise I've had zero! Know so many people like that and it's really not a thing. I think statistics on morning sickness are rubbish. (I've had 10 scans so far and all ok) xx

yorkshireteaspoonie · 23/01/2022 09:31

Cyclogest is a blessing and a curse! After 3 miscarriages I was on cyclogest after IVF and im now 28 weeks pregnant. I swear it was this that kept me pregnant in those precious first weeks.

HOWEVER

it caused massive bloating and constipation. I was incredibly uncomfortable. It won't resolve until you stop taking it but you can help yourself with tons of water and making sure you're getting your daily fibre intake (honestly it's really quite hard to make 25-30g a day) but it does help and you'll be grateful you figured it out at this point when (fingers crossed!) you make it further down the line and every other pregnant woman is struggling with piles. xx good luck

Pepperlypue · 24/01/2022 09:32

@yorkshireteaspoonie thank you! I'm really hoping this is our miracle drug to keep me going through these first 16 weeks. I don't mind being uncomfortable if It means I don't lose another pregnancy.
Will defo watch my fibre intake & I drink 2 litres of water a day already

@Rachae sorry I'm a rambler! My main question was whether anyone else had bloating/stomach issues on the cyclogest. Congratulations on your pregnancy and I hope it goes well for the rest of your pg too! I think the cyclogest and Aspirin are genuine life savers when you have multiple miscarriages. I'm really hoping this is our 'Rainbow baby'. X

@Pepperlypue I was on Cyclogest during my last pregnancy (which very sadly ended in a loss) after multiple miscarriages. I had horrendous bloating with it! I looked about 6 months pregnant! But I wouldn’t hesitate to use it again if there’s a chance it might help 💔
