Postnatal ward question

I’ve reached the stage of peeing 3-4 times per night in the 3rd trimester with 1st baby. This has got me thinking about postnatal recovery and practicalities with a baby. Probably a stupid question, but what do I do in the middle of the night if I need to pee on the post natal ward?
If baby is sleeping I was hoping I could quickly nip to the loo and be back ASAP but I don’t want the midwives to think I’m a negligent mum!
If baby is crying and I am desperate, what do I do?
I’ve never even considered this before!

If the baby is asleep you go to the loo. If it's crying and you are desperate you ask staff or your visitor to hold it.

I wouldn't take a newborn into a public toilet.

The post natal ward I was in with DS2 had some sort of alarm system on their fish tank cot. So you put them in it, turned the alarm on with a key (which you took with you to the toilet) and apparently it would go off if anyone took the baby out of the cot.

First night, I rang the bell to ask them to watch baby. One MW was very pissed off about this. After that, I just nipped off quick. I was actually just emptying my catheter bag so wasn't long at all. This was pretty covid
I can imagine this time will be even safer as no visitors allowed in at night!
