Just wondering if anyone knows the score with eating peanuts whilst your pg? I can vaugely remember watching something on the telly saying that they have now discovered that it won't do any harm but can't really remember(quite possibly could be imagining it as i really really want some peanuts!) Any help would be appreciated x

I don't think they really know. One minute you musn't then the next it's fine. I think if you have history of allergies or asthma in family then I would still give them a miss.

I was told by my midwife that I should not eat peanuts as I am asthmatic with a history of mild allergies.

That said, on the continent where there are no such rules, allergies to nuts happen a lot less frequently I am told.

I get the feeling that my midwife is covering her own back,so I have avoided peanuts apart from one slip up - but I'm eating other types of nut for the oils as I am feeling off fish entirely.

If you have no history of asthma or allergies, and have never suffered eczema I doubt your midwife will even mention it to you.

nobody knows and that is the problem. I studiously avoided them during pregnancy-no history in the family and my ds has a nut allergy.

My personal opinion is that there seems to be alot more asthma and allergies in the world since they said it was bad for you so i've been eating them in my preg.

they've found recently that since telling pg ladies not to eat peanuts the amount of children allergic to them has increased. peanuts are basically poisonous but it is a very small dose and having a few peanuts while your pg should help your lo to grow resistant to the poison contained within. however if you have a peanut allergy/anyone in your family has a peanut allergy or you're asthmatic, I wouldn't risk it
