Waters have broken!

Hello! Laid in bed all morning, and at about 12pm my waters went (and havn't really stopped fully). Having no contractions, which is annoying as if I don't have baby within 24hours ish then I can't have my homebirth.

Off to have a nice long bath now, which is what was advised by the midwife on the phone.

Was wondering if I can still go out for a walk after? I know being active is good during labour, but I wasn't sure if it was safe once your waters have gone?

Does anybody have any tips for while my waters are still leaking? I tried a maternity pad but within 5 mins it was soaked and had leaked everywhere. I ended up sitting on the loo for half an hour!

Midwife said that she thinks I will feel proper contractions within a few hours.

Exciting!!!

Exciting

Sit on a towel and if/when they slow down go for a short stroll. Clean the Kitchen etc. Activity should help move things along.

Wow exciting indeed! No advice on waters as mine had to be broken just before DS came out, but sure there will be lots of advice and support soon! Just wanted to say good luck and that I am a bit as I am nearly 35 weeks with twins and now Christmas is over I am ready.

Hope to hear more news soon!

Oooh exciting! With DD1 I got contractions just a few minutes after my waters broke.

Hope they start soon and you get to have your homebirth!

Good luck

I think once your waters have gone and contractions haven't started then it's best to relax - have a bath. I went back to bed when my waters broke, then contractions started.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong!

Who says you cannot have a home birth if you don't go into labour in 24 hours?

NICE guidelines say 96 hours as long as you are monitored for infection and have no temperature. See homebirth.org.uk

Hope you don't need it anyway, wishing you labour vibes

Oooh good luck! Keep moving to gets things going.

Am I the only one who wanted to sing the thread title to the tune of the Cat Stevens song?

chloemegjess · 27/12/2007 14:07
