turning baby from right to left

Hi all

Has anyone managed to persuade their lo to move from their right to their left hand side? How did you do it? Did you feel it when they shifted?

My mw thinks lo is with his back to the right, i am not sure I agree, I think back is to the front, but in any case she says it is fine but left is best. I am 35 weeks and am sitting up straight or forward, propped on cushions, bounce on my ball etc. Want to have my first baby at home so good position would be really helpful!

Thanks

I managed to turn my DD right round (ie she was breech and back to back - the little wotsit) by scrubbing all the floors in the house. However it's back breaking and I wish someone would have told me that just being down on all fours and rocking can do the same! I was 34 weeks at the time.

Oh and yes I did feel it when she shifted, ye gods it felt like a landslide. However I didn't feel it when she flipped into breech so I guess it depends on whether you are asleep at the time.

Thanks Whomovedmychocolate! I only have one tiny kitchen floor that I can scrub , so i will have to keep up the other ofp exercises. Turning your baby right round is no mean feat! Did you have a good labour after that? A friend of mine had a breech baby who turned while she was on the beach, she really had to sit back and watch the violence in her tummy with some shock.

You are welcome to come and clean my floors, I have two buildings to do!

Salsa is actually very good, or anything that involves squatting a bit and rotating your hips while leaning on the wall (if that makes sense). Some people trying (in a swimming pool) holding onto the bar and doing pretend hulas underneath the water). However not to be advised as the lifeguards try and drag you out convinced you are in labour

Umm actually I got preeclampsia and had an emergency caesarian -so my efforts were in vain in the end. Though I did have sparkly floors for the first few months post partum

Oh and it did look a bit like Alien just before the creature bursts out - according to DH who shuddered when I reminded him.

madmouse - you're also more than welcome to come clean my floors - I have plenty ;)

my LO spends more time on my left than right but shifts over to the right every now and then. I've found that if I can sleep on my left side (although it's hard, I'm much more comfortable on my right!) and also flopping over the birth ball and doing hip circles it seems to move him back over to the left.

i'm just hoping that he's on the left side when it counts, as he's still flopping from side to side all the time these days! (and we're almost at 38wks now!)

well I'm 40+1 now (it's just after midnight!) and baby has been on the right and left several times this evening alone! if they're at the front they can still wriggle about quite a bit. DD3 was ROA about 2 hours before she was born and moved just before she popped out

don't get yourself stressed about getting the baby into the best position - just go with what's comfortable
