I've been trying to find information on this and not had much luck. I thought I'd ask the people for their thoughts.

Has anyone here had sugar intolerance where anything with even a gram of sugar in it (a slice of bread for example) makes them feel really sick? I've had this with both my pregnancies, I've also had negative glucose tests for diabetes both pregnancies aswell. Both pregnancies have had high amniotic fluid levels, this is usually linked to diabetes but I've had negative glucose tests...

I'm currently laying in bed feeling so sick and sorry for myself. Please shine some light on this, even a 'me to' would be amazing.

Sorry, no experience of this but is it worth asking for your next bloods to include an hba1c test? Far more accurate than a GTT and will show if your blood glucose runs higher than normal over a 90 day period rather than just in the short time after the sugary drink. I'm a type 1 diabetic and the sickness is a common side effect of high blood glucose.

It's worth asking just to put your mind at ease. Good luck.

Thats a great suggestion, I really appreciate it thank you.

They did take some bloods in relation to the high amount of fluid alongside the gtt, I'm calling today for the result so I'll ask if it included hba1c.

Thanks again for your response :)

I'd also try and get them to check your urine for ketones. The community midwife or your gp should have dip sticks for this. The nausea and vomiting that comes with high blood glucose is due to ketones.

Make sure to eat prior to providing the sample though as all bodies naturally produce a small amount of ketones when you have been fasting. FMU is not ideal for testing ketones.
