I started feeling utterly exhausted at 5 weeks and then at 8.5 weeks it eased up and now at 10 weeks I'm having days of feeling very sick and shivery for hours at a time. Does this sounds right?

No you will feel worse but the Pregnancy and Hormones sort of prepare you. Make sure you have some support to get some sleep in the first few months - even a few hours on a Saturday afternoon! You may be Lucky and have a baby who sleeps "like a Baby" although personally I am trying to find out who invented that Phrase so I can sue them Same as "Morning Sickness" Bullhooks! Mine got worse the later in the day it got, the only way to escape it was to go to bed at 6pm when I got in from work.

You might not feel much better once it's here (then again you might - some do you know ) BUT you will have an overwhelming love for this little thing that will keep you going when you have no idea how you have managed to. Plus the little monsters have a habit of doing their first smile etc just as you are about to find a way of sending them back to where they came from.

It gets easier as they get older - anyone who disagrees has forgotten how hard those first few weeks can be when you're new to being a mummy.

Good luck, the second trimester is easier for the vast majority so look forward to that!

sadly yes its normal but horrid!

tribpot · 24/12/2007 21:30

Normal. It will be both better and worse when your little one arrives, but so far this is business as usual I'm afraid! Congratulations!

whomovedmychocolate · 24/12/2007 21:34

Yep 'fluey' is entirely normal for this point.

You forgot the other six evil dwarves of pregnancy: vomity, burpy, heartburny, niggley, achey and urinary-incontinency

VictorianSqualor · 24/12/2007 21:38

Exactly, all 7 live with 'grow right'
(ok, I couldnt think of anything else that rhymes with snow white!)

coby · 24/12/2007 21:46

yeah, that urinary incontinency evil dwarf often hangs around after the pregnancy too the little blighter

whomovedmychocolate · 24/12/2007 21:51

Yeah Coby, along with his best mate Mr Piles

coby · 24/12/2007 21:54

Is that Mr Piles of dirty laundry or.....

whomovedmychocolate · 24/12/2007 21:57

ROFL - everyone knows new parents aren't organised enough to make laundry piles....heaps on the floor maybe!

I can see a mumsnet panto coming up next year with some rather unusual villians!
