Sleeping on back

I can’t remember at what point you’re supposed to stop sleeping on your back. Google gives plenty of different answers, will ask the MW when I next see her but wondering whether I shouldn’t be doing this already. It’s the only position I seem comfortable in at the moment :)

I always thought it was no back sleeping from 16 weeks.

I believe it is when you enter the third trimester. However, me personally am naturally a back sleeper and I found that the earlier I started sleeping on my side, the easier and more natural it was when I actually needed to, if that makes sense.

3rd trimester officially however I was prone to sleeping on my back pre pregnancy so shifted to exclusively side sleeping from the moment I got my BFP as this gave me time to get used to it before back sleeping could be an issue

I was told to start transitioning to side sleeping from 16-20 weeks, because I always sleep on my back and it's taking a while to be comfy on my side. I hate it! I'm 22 weeks now and still wake up on my back a lot. But I read somewhere that it can just be a gentle slope rather than fully on your side, so I have been shoving a pillow under my right so I'm tilted to the left, and that's comfy too.

I was at the hospital earlier and a poster they had displayed about this stated from 28 weeks

I can't sleep on my side as seem to get bad ligament pain when I do! As another poster has said, I sleep with a pillow under my right or left side to slant me a bit and sleep fine in that position. I'm 26 weeks and have been doing this since around 20 weeks.

Great, thank you all, again doesn’t seem like one set answer so I’ll speak to my MW and follow what she advises x
