Wondering if anyone is pregnant and unvaccinated?!

If so- what are you reasons x

@June1999
I have two family members who also gave birth before any vaccine was available, they both had covid whilst pregnant and both were fine and both had beautiful healthy babies with no complications at all.

Everyone seems to be so aggressive when it comes to the vaccinated/not vaccinated and I think it's a shame how there is such a divide.
Here's to healthy happy babies no matter what 🤞👍🏼😊

@June1999

I have a 4 week old baby and just had my first vaccine. I wasn’t vaccinated through out my pregnancy as I didn’t like the change in information etc . Towards the end I did cut contact down and avoided seeing people and going to busy places. Although I’ve currently got covid so was very lucky to not of caught it towards the end of pregnancy as I think from what midwives were saying it can be dangerous for pregnant women in third trimester.
"I think from what the midwife's were saying.."

Or from what all the overwhelming evidence shows about very poor outcomes for covid in late pregnancy? Did you do any research? Doesn't sound like it,

You will get passionate responses here because as you say, you don't know a person's situation. Covid is a massive risk to pregnant ladies and has killed alot of otherwise healthy ladies.

I've looked after a few pregnant women on covid ICU....kets hope they have an ECMO bed. Good luck to those who believe the antivax hype! 🤔🤔🤔🤔

There are so many of these threads. No one can give you the reassurance you want. The medical advice is to get vaccinated, that's it really. You can choose not to for whatever reason, but the messaging and publicity about it is crystal clear so you're clearly making what you feel is an informed choice. No one here can tell you it'll all be okay.

I’m not anti vax at all I’ve had the vaccine now. Also had the whopping cough and flu vaccine while pregnant. When I was pregnant they said it was unsafe then said it was safe so I chose to isolate as much as possible instead. I had a family member who was in icu as caught covid while pregnant but like I said to me I felt uncertain as the guidance changed and that was my personal decision.

Scirocco · 10/01/2022 22:42

The clinical evidence indicates that vaccination is safe and effective at reducing the risks of severe illness and complications.

The vaccines recommended in pregnancy have extensive real-world data to support their use. There are no known mechanisms by which they could cause long-term side effects to a developing baby.

COVID, on the other hand, can be a serious risk if caught when pregnant, including increased risks of hospital admission, ICU admission, pre-term delivery and pregnancy loss.

The evidence is that getting vaccinated is the safer option in pregnancy. If anyone's unsure, I'd recommend speaking with your doctor about it and looking at the information provided by the RCOG. Don't rely on posts on forums or on what you find through social media.

Having suffered a miscarriage myself in October 2020, I listened to my ante-natal midwife who has over 25 years experience and who was shocked at the devastating numbers of miscarriage and still births her "ladies" experienced during the first year of the pandemic. I was very fortunate and we fell pregnant again in March last year, so I went ahead and had the AZ vaccine before the guidance came out suggesting pregnant women shouldn't have it. I went to the vaccination centre for my second jab in May, and the gentleman administering it refused to vaccinate me. He then got on the phone to AZ HQ (lighthearted - I don't know who he phoned) who said that he was quite right and they were still deciding what those of us who had started the vaccination schedule with AZ should do.

My GP did the necessary research and I had the second AZ in June, as the guidance was finally clarified.

My partner also had both his vaccinations.

Our son is now 6 weeks old, and having made the decision to have the vaccine I am really glad we did. At one point in September / October I read that 1 in 5 ICU (Covid) patients were unvaccinated pregnant ladies (I wish I could do clicky links but I can't) and the NCT were quoted by Sky News as saying the statistics are a "damning indictment of the lack of attention given to this vulnerable group as restrictions have eased".

I'm very happy with my decision.

Much more likely to have a healthy happy baby if you are vaccinated. Also anecdote is not evidence

I'm currently working in a hospital. The unvaccinated are the willing volunteers and that includes pregnant women. They don't realise the risk to mother and baby far exceeds the infinitesimal risk from the vaccine. Thankfully the risk is less than last year but still plenty of them.

It's a shame the BBC can't go on a Covid ward of a large hospital and show the unvaccinated, including pregnant women who are struggling to breathe, and who suddenly see the light of day about vaccines when they are in that state

VitalsStable · 11/01/2022 05:48

Are you my niece? She's pregnant, as is her sister, my other niece and they're both unvaccinated. I just can't understand why you'd put yourself or your child at risk. Please listen to the scientists.

Spreadingtheword · 11/01/2022 05:51

Same as @MONSTERSALAD really.

I like my babies to term and alive when they're born and the fact that catching covid increases the risk of premature end stillbirth I would never, ever gamble on my child’s life over ‘I might not get severe symptoms’ utter rubbish way of thinking and totally selfish.

I was however, absolutely petrified to get it. Totally in a state of panic attacks. I have health anxiety which gets so bad I won’t even take paracetamol which I’ve taken a hundred times over throughout my life, just out of fear of an adverse reaction. If I wasn’t pregnant, my anxiety wouldn’t have allowed me to get it, I would have kept putting it off - but I can’t just think about me anymore, I have my unborn child growing inside me and they deserve protecting. The facts and evidence are all there, there’s no reason not to have the vaccine.. but plenty of reasons for.

Trinxsy · 11/01/2022 05:58

Got my first vaccine a couple of weeks ago when I was 13 weeks pregnant.

I'd rather get a vaccine and be there for my children instead of them not having a mother. (Thanks to my midwife for pointing that out).

So what if your great cousins best friend's wife managed fine without a vaccine...that doesn't mean you will Confused

Honestly just wish I could give some people a shake! Why would you risk it? Just think you're asking for trouble to be honest.

Letsbekindplease · 11/01/2022 22:13

Not had booster so technically “unvaccinated “. I’m scared to get it in case something happens but after watching news about unvaccinated pregnant mums, I’m scared not to get it.

You’re not technically unvaccinated. You’re just not boosted yet.

I'm doing the exact same thing!
