Pregnant after cell removal

I am pregnant with my 3rd child. After my 2nd child I had cells removed after a smear test. At my check up the nurse said that they had took a significant amount of cells. She told me that I would still be able to carry a baby but maybe not full term.

I'm now worried and probably overthinking but I just wondered if anyone else had been in the same or similar situation and had a happy outcome.

I forgot how nerve wracking being pregnant could be

Thank you

I presume you had a Lletz done by a specialist colposcopy nurse / Dr?
If you've had any amount of cells removed from cervix the midwife has to refer you to a consultant obstetrician who will assess your risk for pre-term birth. This usually includes reviewing how much tissue was taken and having at least 1 (possibly 2) cervical length scans at around 16-20 weeks. I had a scan at 16 weeks then they repeated the scan at my 20 week baby scan. This referral is absolutely standard practice after cervical cell removal.

Hi, I had CIN2 and cells removed 9 months before falling pregnant. Usually you'll be referred to a consultant who will do an internal scan to measure the length of your cervix.

My referral was at 21 weeks, my cervix was ok, but when they checked again two weeks later it had shortened by 1cm, I had a small leak from my hind waters, so because of this they didn't want to risk a stitch, and I had progesterone pessaries three times a day up until 36 weeks and was monitored. I also had steroid injections at 25 weeks in case of pre term labour. All was fine in the end and I didn't actually go into labour until 40+5 despite the fact that I started to dilate when I stopped the progesterone.

I had just approx 1cm of cells removed. My cousin had a large amount as was also monitored and went to term with that pregnancy.

I know if can be worrying, there used to be a website called keepemcooking that had a lot of good advice and stories from people.

I'm six weeks now and midwife as referred me to a consultant after my 12 week scan to ensure they keep an eye on it.

I had a Lletz procedure after developing CIN3 and was pregnant 9 months after the procedure. I really had to fight to get the right care in place as the midwife didn't seem to understand the importance of cervical length scans. I ended up contacting PALS and complaining before anything was done. In my trust, you should see a consultant after your 12 week scan for the first measurement. I eventually had mine done at 16 weeks. The consultant told me if the depth of the lletz was less than 10mm it doesn't usually cause a problem. My cervix was fine at this scan and at the subsequent 20 week scan so I was discharged. Worried all the way through my pregnancy but am currently 37 weeks and baby is still cooking nicely. Try not to scare yourself reading stories of incompetent cervix (as I did).

Just thought I'd give an update.
I'm now currently 19+3 weeks

I'm having regular cervical scans every 2 weeks.
My first was at 16 weeks measuring 28.4 my second was at 18 measuring 26.2.
My next scan is next week.

I'm on 1 pessary a day that I do at night. There is no debris or funnelling and they have told me 25 is the magic number so if I go below that before 24 weeks I may need the stitch.

Thank you again for all your replies when I first posted. They really put me at ease.
