He 'forgot' I couldn't eat these things and he mainly bought them for me .

So obviously mouth watering now at what I can't have, I was doing ok reading threads about pate, thought I could handle it, it's only 9 months and all that and then I saw it there and it's torture!!!

Am I right in saying that Brie is ok if pasturised and from a supermarket? (or something like that??) He's wanting to make me a baguette and asked if I wanted brie and grapes as it's all I said I MAY be allowed.

Anyone know if I'm allowed it??

Don't know but I ate softly cooked eggs and smoked fish when I was expecting (cue, not a good mum )

You can freeze pate and brie tho and scoff it when you're safe

Good look with the baby and merry Christmas

you could cook the brie? melt it until bubbling ont he baguette... it'd be safe then.

LOONEYplayingachristmasTUNEy · 23/12/2007 22:10

Oh, might have to freeze it so out of sight (unless dh wants it but that would be SOOOOO cruel to do that to me )

Thanks for replying, I thought I'd read somewhere that it was ok if pasturised brie but with my pregnancy brain, I probably got that wrong!

Off to bed with my cup of ovaltine.

Night night x

Is it blue stilton? White stilton is fine, it's blue cheeses that carry the listeria risk.
If the Brie has been pasteurised or cooked that's fine.
I would avoid the pate, there was recently a thread about and I posted some info re: retinol content. I adore pate, but I won't take the risk with pate, however I do eat soft cooked eggs - I only ever buy lion mark eggs.

I'm still here

Thanks for that, I thought Pasturised Brie was ok. I'm not risking the pate as also read it wasn't just risk of getting poorly myself, it was more risky. As for the stilton, it's blue God next year I'm sooooo going to eat all this stuff!! (unless you can't when bf?

The brie doesn't say it's pasturised on the packet so does that mean it's not? Oh well, looks like I can't have it afterall. I was doing JUST FINE until dh went and bought all this stuff GRRRR

lol. I thought my DH was the only one who did this. We have a fridge full of pate and sauterne (sp?) thanks to DH's recent Christmas shopping trip ... i am looking at it quite longingly. He keeps asking if I think it's ok to eat it... I keep thinking that it probably wouldn't hurt but not sure it's worth the risk.

I'm almost at 38 weeks now though, so perhaps I can snack on it whilst in labour in the not too distant future? ;)
