Baby growing on 10th percentile - will I be induced early?

Hello everyone,

I'm currently 33 weeks and baby is growing on the 10th percentile.

Biweekly growth scans show that baby is putting on weight though.

Has anyone been through this and were you induced early? Or do they let you go to 40 weeks? xx

Hello! I’m 35 weeks and baby also is on the 10th percentile. I was having fortnightly scans but now that it seems baby is following their curve, they’ve reduced that to one scan every 3 weeks. I think so long as baby stays on the line they won’t induce, but I’d imagine if you drop below they would. Even then though, probably not before term unless it was a significant drop.

Good luck!

Surely 10th is perfectly normal? Someone has to be there! I had a C-section but mine was 3rd percentile with other issues.

I was told as long as baby was on their curve the consultant was happy to leave them in. As it was mine did drop, at which point they increased to twice weekly dopplers to check the cord function as well as the fortnightly growth scans, and then we agreed to induce at 39 weeks. I was told that statistically this was the point at which there was no benefit to leaving baby in, but increasing risk of stillbirth given concerns around placental function.

As it was my apparently baby was a very healthy 7lbs 8 at 39 weeks Grin

I think induction on size all depends on your personal medical circumstances.

My little one has been following bang on the 10th centile curve from the beginning, and have not had or been scheduled any more scans other than my 12wk and 20wk throughout the whole pregnancy (I am 37+1 for reference). My pregnancy has been low risk the whole time, which is why I think there is no further action even though she is on the smaller side.

Bi-weekly scans? Wow that's good.
I am 31 weeks and had a growth scan today where we also found out she's tenth percentile. Another thing for me to worry about and google which is how I found this thread :)
We have to wait a month for the next scan. Placenta, blood pressure etc all fine but I'm considered higher risk (41, ivf baby, low pap-a)
Would be interested to hear what your next scan shows and also any reassuring stories about how it's nothing for me to worry about please!
Wishing you all well.

Hi, I think I'm 2 weeks ahead of you.

Had another growth scan today and baby jumped to the 50th percentile. 😊

The growth scans before that showed 10th percentile.

So this could happen for you as well, that your baby all of a sudden has a growth spurt? xx

Dd was measuring on the 10th centile, I was told if she dropped below that they would be concerned, but as long as she stayed on her centile they had no worries. In the end she was 8 days late and on the 50th centile at birth (the scans aren't always very accurate later on)

My lo was measuring on the 2nd centile. I had regular scans but he continued to follow the curve so they weren’t worried about that as such and didn’t mention anything about induction….until I developed very high blood pressure and they decided to induce on my due date.

Thank you @Blueberry00 for the reassuring words. I'm really happy to hear about the jump in your wee one's weight - that's fantastic!
