ECV for breech baby - experiences

My naughty boy has been extended breech since 16 weeks. I'm currently 36 weeks and the hospital want to try an ECV next week to turn him. I'm nearly sure I do not want it, but was wondering what other's experiences were - good and bad.

No experience of ECV but after researching declined it for my breech baby. Just felt that she was firmly stuck and felt comfortable with the idea of a c section. I did have to really stick to my guns though as was very strongly encouraged to do ECV by the hospital. Good luck with whatever you decide!

Thanks @Glitterheart. I'm the same at the moment. Can I ask how did you find the c section? My concern is I will end up taking ages to recover a d wish I jad attempted ECV (even though my heart is saying go for c section).

Ds1 was breech for ages, they started talking about a c section or ECV at around 36 weeks I think. Whilst we were thinking about it he had turned by the next appointment. I did do the whole arse in the air, head on the floor thing, or just on all fours I think to help give him room.to turn.

I decided not to do the ECV, I had seen videos of it being done and decided it wasn't for me. Had reluctantly said C section to Dh then as I said he had turned. In the end I went into natural labour, failed to progress getting stuck at 9cm at which point Ds who was already not doing great decided he had had enough (25 hours) and went into distress. I ended up with an EMCS. Recovery was fine, I had Dh for 2 weeks then my Mum for 5 days after he went back to work.

I think because we had mentally prepared for the c section we knew what to expect recovery wise and just made sure we were realistic about what I could and mostly could not do.

C section was a great experience - really calm and straightforward. First few days were very sore getting up and about but would say I was back up to doing most things after around 2 weeks.

I had an ECV last month. It wasn't the best experience, but I'm glad I tried it, I was really hoping to avoid a section, I also tried yoga and accupuncture to try and turn DS, but no luck with anything, so he was delivered by emergency c section after my waters broke at home. I was booked in for an elective, but DS had other ideas and wanted out before Christmas!

The section was a really positive experience, very calm and the theatre staff were great, had some good chat with them, and I've already decided if i had another baby I'd go for an elective again.

Yes the first 3 days was not fun at all, but I'm now 16 days post op and feeling great!

I had an ECV and it was absolutely fine, baby turned with no problems within about 30 seconds and stayed there. I had an EMCS with my first and just really wanted to try for a natural delivery, which was also successful. Everyone I spoke to about it tried to put me off but it really was no drama at all, just a bit uncomfortable while it was being done then fine.

I had an undetected breech so didn't have to make the decision as we only discovered baby was breech after my waters had broken. I had a C-section and found it a really positive experience - much more positive than my subsequent vaginal birth.

I declined EVC, had a seamless c section and a quick recovery- up and about the next morning home in the afternoon, out for a gentle walk with the buggy on day 2. I feel as though my baby did me a favour being breech so I could have an ELCS!
