Struggled to get baby in car seat pregnant

Hi all,
Today I decided to go out to town with my 1 year old today. When trying to get her in the car seat to go home she refused and kept trying to slip out of the chair.
I'm 8 weeks pregnant with my second and I'm really scared that I have affected my pregnancy as i was really straining my back to get her to go in and getting stressed.
Can anyone give me some reasurrance that the pregnancy will be okay.

I thought you were going to say you were 38 weeks or something! How could straining your back do anything to a pregnancy anyway, never mind at 8 weeks?

I think lifting and straining is somewhat unavoidable with little ones. I have an 18-month-old and I'm 14 weeks. I'm going to have a terrible back by the end for sure! I sincerely doubt you've damaged the baby though. At 8 weeks, they're so very tiny and snug. Your baby won't have noticed a thing.

Thank you for the reassurance. I'll try not to worry anymore.

I fainted and fell down half a flight of stairs (we have a quarter staircase so wasn't the whole flight) at 10 weeks pregnant - all was fine, now 37 weeks. Don't think you have anything to worry about!

At 8 weeks they’re still absolutely tiny and down behind your pubic bone, you have nothing to worry about at all

The caution against lifting and stuff is not really for the baby, especially so early, it's for you because you're more likely to injure yourself when pregnant because of weird joint stuff and relaxin. But most second-time parents can't really avoid it. I'm 16 weeks and DD is 2 and I still have to help haul her into her seat as we have quite a high car and lift her up sometimes to do things. If DH is around I'll ask him but otherwise I just make sure I'm doing it safely.

(I went on an ill-advised tractor pod run with DD when I was 7 weeks with this baby where we were getting bumped and thrown all over the place into potholes and flying up and down and it caused no issues. They are really very snug in there!)

Our son is 18 months and I'm 22 weeks pregnant also struggling with the car seat job but have no choice, other than when my partner is with me! Just take it slow and easy, distract your little one with a snack or a toy Flowers

My midwife advised that carrying on with any normal sport or activity was perfectly fine. Taking up new strenuous activities wasn't the best idea. So wrestling a toddler is part of your every day activities and unlikely to do you or your baby any harm.

You really really don't need to worry. Women have had more than one kid since the start of time and picked them up, carried them etc.
