So I'm sure this has been asked a lot, I'm currently 7 weeks and 2 days pregnant, I had my first dose (AstraZeneca) back in may last year but put off having the 2nd dose as I wanted to try for a baby first and was unsure as there wasn't much research at the time.

I'm debating having the 2nd dose but wanted a few opinions first if possible...
1 Am I best to wait till the second trimester?
2 What symptoms if any did you have afterwards?
3 Which vaccine did you have?
Please no rude or offensive comments I know people have mixed views on the matter

Hi!

Not sure if this is too Helpful... but I have had my booster jab today at 14 weeks + 5 after some deliberation on what to do.

I honestly would say

  • speak to your midwife and raise concerns and questions you have
  • do some research (NHS page, midwives official page etc)
  • try to do what YOU want to do (easier said than done I listen to everyone!)

I would have thought they will give you the same vaccine again as I'm pretty sure they don't mix first 2 doses.

Hope this helps if even a tiny bit... I now know a lot of women who have been jabbed pregnant!

But ultimately, listen to your heart and make your own decision

Xx

I didn't have the second jab pregnant so can't speak to all your Qs but would recommend looking at the RCOG Q&As which are really helpful for any vaccine queries (and much more robust than MN opinions!) www.rcog.org.uk/en/guidelines-research-services/coronavirus-covid-19-pregnancy-and-womens-health/covid-19-vaccines-and-pregnancy/covid-19-vaccines-pregnancy-and-breastfeeding/

The only reason to maybe wait until second trimester is the risk of potentially having a high temp as a side effect to the jab but to be honest as your first jab was a while ago and covid is rife atm the risk of having a high temp through getting covid is higher! There's no evidence that the jabs are a risk to the development of the baby pre 12 weeks

The only additional thing is that they won't give you AZ because you are pregnant, it will be pfizer or moderna.

I had my second jab when I was 8 weeks. I was tired afterwards and had a sore arm but that was all. The official advice is that the vaccine is safe and there is no reason to delay until after 12 weeks. See the advice from the Royal College of Obstetricians. If you are unsure about that though speak to your midwife.

I had my 2nd jab in 1st trimester (am now term!) but I had 2 pfizer jabs (and have since had a pfizer booster).
I think its quite likely they'd offer you pfizer or moderna instead as you are now pregnant but the most important thing is to get one of them as 1 jab so long ago isn't going to give you much protection.
All the best with your pregnancy!

I had my booster today at 8.5 weeks pregnant, and like you was quite worried. I told the nurse when I arrived and she was so reassuring - she said straight away ‘you’re doing the right thing for you and your baby’

Hi there! I had my 3rd dose in December at 10 weeks pregnant, I had Pfizer after having 2 doses of AZ and I felt absolutely fine!
I tested positive for covid last week so I'm glad I got booster as soon as I could, otherwise it could have been a very different story! You're definitely doing the right thing by speaking to your midwife :)
