Covid Concerns 3rd trimester

Anyone else feel like they are just waiting to catch Covid? I’ve got 6 weeks to my due date and feel it’s inevitable that I’ll catch it with the cases so high now. I can’t see how I’m going to be able to avoid it any longer with a 4 year old at preschool 3 days a week. I was double jabbed end of October so can’t have my booster until end of January. I’m really starting to panic that I’ve not got enough protection. Has anyone caught Covid towards the end of their pregnancy and everything has been ok?

Following for the responses on this one, I've got 13 weeks to go and also feel like it's now inevitable I'm going to get it now. I've had two +booster as has my OH but he's due back at work tomorrow and it's rife in his place of work ATM apparently

I'm WFH so keeping safe that way but I'm sure he's going to bring it home 😩 genuinely concerned at how bad it might be for me and how it might affect of the baby. I also don't want it to derail my January anti natal appointments!!

Please try not to worry. I'm 32 weeks and DP caught it over Christmas. I've tested negative throughout. It's not inevitable and even if you do get it you'll probably just have mild symptoms.

Most of the pregnant women in hospital with it are unvaccinated.

I’m 35 weeks with covid. I’m double vaccinated but haven’t had booster yet. It has just been a bad cold for me so hopefully nothing to worry about (midwife not remotely concerned and just advised that I keep hydrated).

I was being careful to avoid covid but I’m almost relieved I’ve got it over and done with now rather than nearer my due date (I also felt it was kind of inevitable with infection rates so high).

Thank you so much for your replies. They definitely make me feel much better. It had crossed my mind that if I caught it while pregnant it would be all over & done with by the time the baby is born but I also don’t want to put my baby or myself in danger

I caught covid over Christmas. I started showing symptoms the day after my booster jab, so that wouldn't really have kicked in. I notified my midwife, and they sent me out a support pack with an oximeter in to keep an eye on my O2 levels, and put me on clexane injections for a fortnight (blood thinners) to reduce the risk of blood clots. I really didn't have a bad time of it though, it was like a mild cold, and I was exhausted for a week. Please don't panic about it - take what sensible precautions you can, but you have had two vaccinations which will help to protect you even if you do get it.

Meant to add, I was 29 weeks when I caught it.

Other than my daughter going to preschool we are doing everything else we can. I’m now working from home, we are keeping our contact with others to a minimum and if we do meet anyone we make them take laterals first. This has actually been a good thing as we have managed to miss Covid twice now because we made family members take laterals before we met them and they came back positive. We haven’t been to the supermarket throughout the whole pandemic and have our shopping delivered. So other than my daughter being a preschool we are doing all we can at the minute. We’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed

I had it at 22 weeks while double jabbed. I’d had my booster a couple of days before so not enough time to get any benefit from it. I have had much worse colds, it was very, very mild. Slight sore throat, headache, stuffy nose and a bit tired for about 3 days.

SouthwestSis · 05/01/2022 17:52

If it's less than 3 months since your 2nd jab then you are still well protected by your vaccines and would likely only experience mild illness, thank goodness we have these jabs to cover us when we are pregnant!
I've got 3 weeks to go until my due date so doing all socialising outside now which is challenging with the weather, but not for much longer :)

I was also double jabbed by the end of October so wasn't due my booster until the end of Dec. Came down with Covid on Christmas Day! I'm 38 weeks now and it just felt like a heavy cold, I'm back to normal now. Try not to worry - I was really concerned but I'm glad that I've gotten it out of the way now because it really does feel inevitable that you'll catch it!
