Hi guys. I noticed a few things that might have been baby a few days ago, but tnothing ekse since. Im getting a bit scared for my 20 week scan as I have a posterior placenta. I'm also pretty slender. I'm just expecting bad news 😕 do i see if I can check babies heartbeat with my local mw?

Yes call your midwife they won't mind they'll advise

I’d say you’re early to notice frequent movement yet, but yes to MW if concerned.

I didn’t feel regular movements at 19 weeks (even with my second pregnancy) so I’m sure all is absolutely fine but agree with pps - if you are concerned, always call (and don’t wait until your next appointment).

They're so small at this stage, they can tuck themselves up in corners and kick inwards and you wouldn't feel it, but definitely just call the midwife if you're concerned. It was really sporadic for me at that stage, would go days without, didn't start to get more regular until 24-26 weeks also posterior placenta and quite slender last time if that helps at all

But isn't calling pointless? Won't they just say that it's normal and to wait for my scan (it's only 6 days away).

They might do but they won't mind. It's better to ring and it be pointless than not ring and be worrying about it.

Maternity triage should see you from 18 weeks so I'd go there if you're concerned.

They might well do…. But if you are concerned enough about possible reduced movements to post here the only proper advice anyone can give you is to speak to a qualified healthcare professional.

This is the official nhs advice. They won’t mind you calling.
