Hi I'm now 33 weeks. I had my first astra zenica vaccine back in March 2021 and then conceived in the May. When I first found out I was pregnant, it was not reccommended that pregnant women receive the vaccine and therefore the 12 week interval passed and I never received a second one. When they decided it was safe for pregnant women to have the vaccine my GP didn't want me to have the AZ and recommended the pfizer instead. They didn't know much about mixing vaccines at this point so I've been putting it off until now (completely my fault I'm very anxious) My GP has said that I would only need one vaccine and the booster as I've already had one but this was almost 10 months ago ?! I suppose my question is are there any professionals out there that could please give me some advice about how effective the vaccinations would be for me given the large gap? Thanks

I am not a health professional but from my understanding, if you are going to get the second dose, the sooner you have it the better.

If a health professional told you you wouldn't have as much protection as someone who had two doses 12 weeks apart, are you saying you would then choose not to get the second dose? I'm sure some protection is better than none.

I do understand your anxieties and I know you only want to protect your baby... it took us a long time to get pregnant and I was terrified my booster which I had a couple of weeks ago would affect the pregnancy. In the end, I had no problems, hardly any negative side effects for less than 24 hours, and I've just discovered I had a close contact with a positive case at Christmas (I am now 21 weeks) but am fine (currently waiting for PCR result) even though my husband has developed a cough. I am now thanking my lucky stars I had the booster because I think it may have stopped me from catching it and/or developing symptoms.

Whatever you decide, I would encourage you to follow the advice of a medical professional, and I wish you all the best. Take care!
