I am really anxious about returning tomorrow, Ive been stressed and snappy all day! I asked about wfh from 28 weeks well before Christmas and was told that I would hear before we broke up but I didnt.
I dont like confrontation and find it a huge source of stress, and now it feels like I am going to have to start all over again in my request etc.

Have any other teachers been allowed to wfh in tbe 3rd trimester?

Thanks for reading!

@Zibidee nobody can say for definitely but potentially as although they are saying that it’s most unvaccinated pregnant people becoming really unwell, it’s still a recognised risk for everyone in their third trimester. Also, delta and alpha are still circulating not just omicron

@Weredone @Zibidee
I’m no expert in unions or employment rights so I could be wrong but nasuwt guidelines are still from dec 2021 as seen at top of the page. At that point neu said the same thing. Over Christmas had a major panic so remember it vividly.
On the 4th a joint union statement was released (usually this is neu and nasuwt and other unions) which is much clearer. I noticed nasuwt have issued further general guidance here www.nasuwt.org.uk/advice/health-safety/coronavirus-guidance/full-reopening-of-schools/full-reopening-of-schools-england.html
Theres no mention of pregnancy BUT says they will be updating advice and you are advised to speak to union now with any immediate concerns. Maybe the update won’t include pregnancy but it absolutely could be in line with neu.
I would approach rep today to see if they are part of neu joint statement and what they recommend.
Good luck

My HT pulled me in the office today to tell me that I do have the option of working from home as he'd read the Union advice. But my class would be taught by supply staff until I start my Mat leave at Feb half term.

However, I am only 24+2 so I think I would find it too long and be bored stiff at home for that long. So I'm dropping to 3 days per week and this can be amended at my request at any time. I did just have covid before Christmas though, i think I'd be more worried if I hadn't

For anyone with nasuwt membership, the guidelines have now been updated and are much clearer.

My school have agreed to my own wfh now thanks to the guidance and gp letter.
Good luck

@Moonstar4982 how many weeks are you and what’s your work from home set up looking like? My work are saying that they will review my risk assessment monthly and review working from home from 28 weeks. I have a CO2 monitor and they’ve told me I need to stay at the front of the room (they’ve removed a row of desks and put them to the back), but this isn’t always realistic given the setting I’m in. I’m very lucky that my room is big enough to do this though.

@Weredone I am currently 31 weeks so well into the 3rd trimester now.
My classes will have cover teachers until my maternity cover starts after February half term. It’s not ideal but in the grand scheme of things they will be fine. I will be live teaching via teams for some lessons. My GCSE and A level classes have mocks so a lot of time is marking with some planning thrown in for good measure.

I'm 32+2 and have been working from home since the start of term. I'm not doing any teaching but doing planning/policies etc. Means I'll work right up until my section date which is a bonus.
