Struggling to shake covid while pregnant

Hi, I'm ten days into COVID symptoms with a positive test and just can't shake it. I'm exhausted, nauseous, largely in bed and every cough and sneeze makes my pelvic ligaments hurt like hell. Most reports I see are of people shaming it in 4-5 days. Has anyone else been laid low for so long by it? I'm 17 weeks now and had severe sickness so am wondering whether that is not helping the recovery and the horrible nausea. Thanks

Hi - i can’t speak with any personal experience of covid, but when pregnant your immune system goes through the floor (to stop your body rejecting the baby as a possible threat, i believe). Even more fun, it lasts for quite a while after birth. I got every cold going for about 2 years and they managed to drag on for ages each. Normally i have an immune system you could bounce asteroids off. Which is a long winded way of saying sorry, it is probably going to drag on a while but that’s pretty normal. Sorry you’re feeling rubbish, look after yourself. Hopefully someone will be along with more personal experience.

I am 20 weeks pregnant and it's been 15 days since my covid symptoms started. I say I only started to recover at day 13. Still not 100% recovered yet, but tested negative on day 13. My initial symptoms started with a mild sore throat and fever and I got heavily congested. Congestion took ages to clear up (day 12), and I'm now currently still coughing and feel nauseous, but not sure if that's pregnancy related! Can't wait to feel normal again. I only was just starting to feel better from morning sickness, when covid struck!

I tested positive 3 weeks ago and I'm still not right! I'm out of bed and functioning but I've still got terrible sinus pain that makes me feel quite unwell still. I went to the pharmacy to see what options I've got to help, but with being pregnant it's very limited as we can't take any decongestant. Someone also mentioned to me about the immune system being reduced in pregnancy. My husband has been fine since day 4. I'm 16 weeks pregnant. I hope you feel better soon OP

My friend who caught covid in 2nnd trimester was unwell for weeks, even now her baby has been born she is breathless after just getting dressed or a very short walk and really struggling with fatigue, it sounds awful to juggle with a newborn!
She caught covid just before she could get her 2nd jab sadly, hopefully most pregnant ladies are better protected now.

I got it in my first trimester and upped my intake of vitamin C, D3 and zinc. Basically a barocca a day plus 200% of the daily recommended amount of zinc and D3 for about a week. Still took longer to recover than my DH but I did get better after about 5 days and was normal again after about 10-12 days. Try to get some fresh air too, should help to clear your head both mentally and get some fresh air in your airways (it's an old wives tale but does always make me feel better nonetheless!!). Hope you feel better soon.

Same situation as you, I'm 17 weeks and I'm on day 7 of covid but it feels like a lifetime already. The symptoms vary and change but overall the congestion is a nightmare to deal with as can't buy any decongestant. Blocked nose at night means no sleep which is making recovery harder. I've had every symptom of covid plus conjunctivitis in both eyes! I hope we all feel better soon!

Thanks all for the reassurance, it seems it is hard to shake with few meds and additional exhaustion and nausea from pregnancy. I tried working from home today and accidentally fell deeply asleep at my laptop for three hours... not great! Blush
