Early scan

Hi,

Thinking about booking an early scan - accordingly to LMP I am 5 weeks tomorrow. I see people say they have had them around 6/7 weeks, is this from LMP?

If it is something you have done, when would you recommend? My NHS scan is likely to be around 12/13 weeks based on when a few of my friends got called to theirs.

Thanks!

For some of us who've got pregnant via IVF the 7 weeks scan comes as part of the package before the IVF clinic discharges you. If you're paying for a private scan you're better off having one after 7 weeks if you 100% want to see a heartbeat.

Ok so 7 weeks from last minute period. That's helpful, thanks!

Thank you!

Yes thinking 7-8, it really isn't that far away I suppose. I'm just impatient!

I'd say go for 8, because the dates can be off by as much as two weeks as calculated from LMP and as such 7 may actually be 5 and then you'll end up with no heartbeat and a week of anxiety. I've seen it happen on here a lot.

At 8, the earliest it might actually be is 6 and then you should still see a heartbeat.
