Morning All, Happy New Year ! Just wondering what everyone thinks of fetal dopplers am reading a lot of mixed reviews on them some saying they make more anxiety than help anxiety that you already have. I think am just being over nervous am 17+1 have had all healthy scans even a active healthy gender scan. I don’t know weather it’s because I’ve felt some movement the past week or so and now I feel like it’s slowed down which I know at this point it can be very intermittent and am just being paranoid. Am so tempted to buy a Doppler but I know midwives don’t recommend them. Has anyone had one and it’s helped a lot with anxiety ??

I had one but just used it for entertainment and recording noises. I am the opposite of anxious and didn’t worry about anything and didn’t use it for any kind of monitoring or decision making.
@kyra86 my only thing is am thinking if I call at this point they will tell me to wait a few weeks until things establish abit more as I’ve just been having intermittent rumbles for about a week
If you’re worried and anxious, triage should allow you to attend for reassurance. You can always ring your community midwife and they can listen in.

This.

I had one and enjoyed using it for fun but wouldn't use it for any kind of diagnostic purpose!

There's no point using one on the first trimester. Whatever you thought you could or couldn't hear it wasn't the baby. A trained midwife wouldn't attempt to find a heart beat by Doppler in the first trimester. This thread perfectly illustrates why they should not be sold.

OP - I would try writing down the facts that you know, your baby has been seen to be well on scans and movements are slight in the second trimester. When you feel anxiety building look at what you've written.
