I'm fully vaccinated and boosted and still being really careful. The vaccines reduce the risk of infection, and make it likely that any illness would be mild, but in my opinion it's still worth being extra careful where we can, especially when it's for such a good reason - to protect our babies and vulnerable people in our lives.
I go to work (frontline healthcare) but have good PPE there. We do daily lateral flows and have good infection control policies.
My social life has largely gone back to being outdoors or online. Outdoors isn't that bad, actually - with a good coat, good shoes and good hot chocolate a walk in a park is fine. Yes, it would be nice to go to a restaurant or the cinema, but they'll still be here in 3 months' time. I can still have movie nights with friends, just virtually for a few more weeks.
I'm quite careful about hand hygiene, masks and social distancing. They're simple things we can all do to reduce risks to ourselves and others - low effort, potential for high reward.
My DH and I are planning to largely self-isolate for the 2 weeks leading up to the due date, as we really don't want a COVID infection to mess up the birth plans. Restrictions mean that if either of us were positive at the time of delivery, our plans would have to change significantly - for us, avoiding that is worth the relatively minor inconvenience of 2 weeks' self-isolation.
