Not seeing midwife for 3 weeks before due date?

I'm 38+4 days today. I'm low risk and had a very straightforward pregnancy so far. Seen the midwife last week (37+4) and my next appointment will be on my due date. I'm not from the UK and in my country you go to the hospital every week to check on the heartbeat and from 39 week you go every day. I have asked for another appoitement but the midwife didn't give me saying if anything wrong I will feel less movement. I think I'm just stressing about that noone will look at the baby for three weeks (my sister and a few of my friends had to have emergency c as the cord was very tight around the baby's neck and they didn't even noticed less movement; they find out on the weekly/daily check) Is this normal here in the UK or should I push for more appoitement?

Pretty standard I would say, I had appointments at 28 weeks, then 36 weeks, then 38 and now waiting on due date appointment at 40 weeks. 3rd baby for me but think it was the same for my eldest two x

It's normal, NICE guidance for schedules of appointments are 38/40 and then Term, then Term +7. There is not the staffing to see women daily from 39 weeks 😭

Also you wouldn't discover a nuchal cord at a routine appointment, potentially on a scan it could be seen? Lots of babies are born with the cord around the neck and it's not a problem.

Gosh. Going in every day from 39 weeks sounds like a nightmare. Imagine if you went to 42 weeks and had to go in 21 times! Well actually I’m sure they’d find something ‘wrong’ and insist in inducing quite quickly. My DC1 had a cord around the neck and was born normally. Easier said than done I know but. Just be happy you’re low risk and not being forced into loads of extra checks you probably don’t need!

from 39 week you go every day

How?! I didn’t finish work until 39+6 with my third baby! That sounds an incredibly intensive practice for little extra gain.

Thank you for the answers! It's making me feel much better. I know I'm worrying too much, but can't help it!
@PotteringAlong I'm from Hungary and they really pushing women to have babies there. You get 3 years maternity leave ( first 2 years 70% of your salary the third year 50%) and you must start your leave 4 weeks before the due date. So women spend most of the last month going in for check ups. I know it's sounds intense, but I'm also someone who would prefer to spend my last month in the hospital just to make sure everything is ok. Unfortunately, I like to get overtreatment 😂😭

Yeah I think that’s pretty normal. I actually had my 4th baby this year and they forgot about me and I had my first midwife appointment post booking in at 32 weeks and then no more 🙄 (I did my own blood pressure at home and my scans went thru ok so wasn’t fussed).
