Do I need it?

This is very much our last baby (3rd)
We have had about 4 hours sleep in 48 hours. We are shattered and my foof is killing.
Tbh I feel like I've been ran over and leaving the house feels like a nightmare!

The NHS website says that if you aren't having another baby then you don't need to have it.
My worry would be that I got pregnant accidentally though..

sashh · 27/12/2021 05:56

If you became accidentally pregnant would you be prepared to a) abort or b) risk having a baby that might be very ill or still born or mentally disabled?

I know you feel like crap but it is an injection, an injection that means if you do have an accidental 4th means that pregnancy will be normal.

PollyBlue6 · 27/12/2021 05:58

Yes that's my only worry, even though its very unlikely!
I didn't mind with my 2nd as I never felt done.

Husband is talking about having the snip and I'm planning on going back on the pill.

The thought of having to put actual clothes on and travel then sit Sad and wait. Its a good 30 mins travel without the arsing about of 2 kids and a newborn if I don't really need it.

If you’re absolutely sure it’s your last baby, then no you don’t need it.
But are you absolutely ABSOLUTELY sure it’s your last - I mean, most women immediately post partum swear they’ll never have another!

SpiderFluff · 27/12/2021 06:10

I'd just go and get it done then it's done. I had to make a bout 3 seperate trips to hospital after my little one and it was exhausting I get why you don't want to go but I'd go get it done then you don't have to think about it anymore

Mummyoflittledragon · 27/12/2021 06:15

I would go. You are exhausted. But It will set your mind at rest. And book the snip asap anyway.

Roselilly36 · 27/12/2021 06:20

Why do you need to go to the hospital, can’t your visiting midwife administer the injection, when I had my last child, needed anti d, my DH collected the injection from the hospital and kept it in the fridge for the midwife the next morning.

PollyBlue6 · 27/12/2021 06:21

We are ABSOLUTELY sure.
Even after my 2nd I knew I wanted another one.

We don't have the room or funds for another one. I'm getting older etc.
It's not untill later on today so I will see how I feel then.

I would just go and get it for peace of mind. Accidents happen, there may be a waiting liSt for vasectomy etc

Kinko · 27/12/2021 06:24

I really feel for you, honestly I really do but go. It will be in maternity ward I'm sure, so just stay in your pjs, keep your slippers on. Take your kids as they are (big coat over their pjs if necessary), clamber into the car and go. Get your husband to drive you as close to the door as possible. Your kids can stay in the car with Dad, if he parks up.

You'll be home before you know it and by this evening you'll be back and it'll be a none issue.

They'll not mess about in the maternity ward.

I had to go back to the hospital a few days after my c section and as painful and awful as it was and as slow as I walked, I just gritted and head down, and it was over before I knew it.

The mental thought process of - I can't do this - is worse than the actual action of doing it - once you get going.

Congrats on your baby!

No not everyone needs it. It's given to people with Rhesus negative blood to prevent their body attacking the baby if it's Rhesus positive
Flutterby8 · 27/12/2021 11:15

I feel your pain. I was sent back to hospital multiple times after delivering my DD due to blood pressure increase and episiotomy break down.
I did not want to go. I did not want to struggle putting DD in the car seat. I just didnt want to get dressed.
But i went, and im glad i did.
Pop in, even wear your PJ's.
Maternity wards dont faff about, youll be in and out in 10mins.

PollyBlue6 · 27/12/2021 17:24

I went!

Geared myself up, got through it...

..got another appointment tomorrow with the Midwife.
Don't know whether to laugh or cry Grin

Atleast I get another Starbucks I suppose and the fresh air was nice.

Well done OP, that took courage, but at least it’s done, just in case! I tried to put the argument of no more, it was insistent that I had the anti d. I didn’t have anymore children, DS2 put pay to that 😂 I hope you enjoyed your Starbucks!

sashh · 28/12/2021 04:25

Well done!

Wow that looks patronising typed out but I really mean it.

ArabellaStrange · 28/12/2021 05:56

I tried to resist having it done after my second child, as was quite sure would not be having any more children but gave in to the midwifes. 1
2 years later and no more children but there have been a couple of ifs and maybe situations so I am glad I had it done.
