hi everyone, so i had my baby last month via c section. i’m rhesus negative and my baby is rhesus positive. after she was born they found antibodies in my blood, when i first found out i was rhesus negative my midwife told me about the anti d injections and that i would need them. but she said it’s to stop miscarriage in future pregnancies, it’s been playing on my mind because in the future i do want more children ): does this mean i won’t be able to have anymore?

If you have had the anti d then you will be fine to have future children.

So did you have the injection after birth? Your post isn’t clear.

Hi, this also happened to me with my little boy 7 years ago, I too had the anti d injection at 28 weeks pregnant with him and had a c section but there was a cross over of his blood with mine at some point, resulting in me having antibodies C,D and E. I am now 38 weeks pregnant with my second and been under a consultant. I have had two weekly blood tests to keep an eye on the antibody levels and 4 weekly growth scans to check for anaemia in baby. I have been very lucky that the levels have stayed low so far. The consultant did say that if they were to rise and go over a certain level, they may have to give a blood transfusion to baby in belly. Lots of people with this still go on to have babies, they just have extra monitoring :)

i had the anti d injection every time i had a bleed in pregnancy, at 28 weeks and i had one after birth but they said i have antibodies

Also, just thought I would add that 7 years on the antibodies C and E are no longer detected in my blood. It is just anti d in my blood now, so I wasn't given the anti d injection for this pregnancy. They've booked me in for another section at 39w5d. I'm still a bit nervous to see if these antibodies have had any affect on baby ( jaundice, anaemia etc) despite having regular scans and bloods taken. I will happily update you though when I have him and let you know if it has affected him

Yes I did too, they couldn't tell me why though, just that it happens some times

@neptune997 - I am Rhesus negative DS Rhesus positive ( after previous failed pregnancy - ) had the injections during pregnancy and all fine - you will be able to have more children. ( My experience )

Thankyou. I remember panicking when I was first informed of having the antibodies too. They sent me a card to carry around in my purse. And whenever I tried to explain it to anybody, they just said oh if you have negative blood you will just have anti d injection and everything will be fine ( not understanding that I did have it during pregnancy and after, yet there was still a cross over of blood creating these antibodies anyway)

But next baby could be your blood type so nothing to worry about x
